Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 stuck on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 screen + no recovery mode

When the phone is turned on it sticks at the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 screen - sources I've looked at have suggested recovery mode (vol up, home and power) but trying this results in a screen with the android logo and 'Downloading... Do not turn off target', but without the 'odin' text in the upper left screen of downloading mode. So I can't get to recovery mode to do a hard reset (or anything for that matter). Is there anything to be done? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you may have hit volume down. Try pulling the battery for a few minutes and reinserting. Try the button combination again.

Hi - this is the poster (I forgot I had an account for this site).

I've been very certain about pressing volume up - pressing volume down takes me to a warning screen about custom OS and an option to press volume up to continue or volume down to reject. Pressing volume up + home + power takes me to the screen with the android logo and the message 'downloading do not turn off target'.

No worries.

As for the button thing....Not sure what to say. In any event, you can try reflashing a stock ROM. Stock ROM files can be found on Sammobile or samsung-updates. Just look for your exact model number. As for how to flash, I would look at this guide by Rukbat: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...k-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html#post4552790

Whenever I flashed a new ROM I would always assume that it will wipe the device, and I would pull the battery and charge the device until you are about 70% before using Odin.
