Galaxy S3 or wait for Iphone 5?

Heh, I know :)

Just passing along info to help you in your quest :D

I love apple & iOS, still love my iPad. But I was just not that impressed with ios6 & it didn't give any indication that we would get a bigger screen. maybe one day I'll go back, but for now I want a bigger screen than 4.07. Lol.

Thanks though.

I would wait it out if you have your heart set on both. The S III hands down will be the best phone along with the One X and other future Android phones for a while. IMO the Next iPhone will be just as good if not better. Keep in mind, iOS6 may not impressed some but it’s in Beta testing and we know damn well apple will not show off its new and improved home screen layout and major new futures till they announce the next iPhone. So this is what I think we should expect from the next iPhone: New beautiful design, New iOS Layout, LTE, Dual core/Quad core @ 1.2/1.5 GHz, Better camera, Bigger battery, Bigger screen, 2GB of RAM, Better Retina display, Better Siri, Widgets and more... Can’t go wrong with that.

I have a GS3 on Pre-Order with Verizon. For reasons I will not post here, mainly because its pointless to pick on Apple in an Android forum, I have decided to stick with Android. I have never owned an Apple phone, but I have played around with one. I decided my preference taking into consideration technology, company ethics, and and device openness. I will not be buying any more apple products, including iPods. My PC will remain Windows until more of the software I use runs on Linux or preferably Android (Linux'ish).

The real answer to this question though is it is a matter of personal preference. Pick an OS. If you have never messed around I suggest you find a friend with Android and spend an hour with their phone. A quick demo in a store is not enough time to make a decision. My sister and her husband have a iPhone's, so I have had plenty of time to mess around with the OS. They both have also had the same chance with my Android phone and are seriously considering going Android. Both want to see my GS3 first before deciding, but the main reason they may switch is Apple's business philosophy of forcing users to upgrade yearly by selling outdated tech advertised as new and innovative. It's funny, when Suri came out my sister text me and said "lol, looks like Apple copied your phone with that voice thing you use." Sure Suri is better for a lot of things, but it's certainly not new technology.

My buddy came over from Blackberry and has a GS3 on Pre-Order with Verizon as well. This will be his first Android phone.

Two of my friends have Apple and will not be switching. They love their Apple devices. I am glad they do and hope Apple keeps making phones they enjoy. Just not my cup of tea.

It really doesn't matter though because over the next few years, all of these legal battles will get thrown out of court of settled. After companies stop beating their chests, you will find a lot of these patents will become fair use and things will finally start to ramp up in cell technology. Once a company finally figures out the optimal screen size, phone style, ergonomics, and form factor, they will all copy that design and our phones will look alike. By that point both OS's will be full blown computer OS's, our phones hardware will be satisfactory to replace desktops, laptops, and tablets under normal use situations. We will probably be using Google glasses or Apples knockoff.

At this point it will be full circle and all will be right with the universe. Apple (iOS), Google (Linux), and Microsoft (Windows) will all once again be SOFTWARE manufactures like they were back in the day. Apple uses Samsung parts, just like other companies also share hardware. Combine this with the trend that all of our devices, regardless of OS are basically getting all the same features because all EVERYONE is violating patents to satisfy consumers. Who doesn't want voice commands on their phone. All my Apple friends were jealous of the feature. I am glad Apple copied Google voice commands, they came out with a great product with Suri. I hope Google takes a lesson and upgrades our Android voice experience. This is how technology progresses, companies leapfrogging each other. Without this fierce competition we would never be progressing this fast in technology. If one company was to crush the others then we would eventually have a stagnant pool. This is why I am glad Microsoft has entered the mix. Its always been the big three, iOS, Linux, and Windows. Together these company are locked in an never-ending dance of technological advancement slingshot from the others creation. In the end this is good for consumers, which means its good for corporate profits.

Consumers are fickle. They will jump ship in a heartbeat if given a compelling reason. A lot of consumers are also ignorant and will buy whatever their friends buy or because an ad on TV told them. If Apple, Google or Microsoft won the supremacy war, eventually users would get tired of the slow advancements in technology and jump ship for anything else that was an option. A few years from now when mobile technology starts to settle down a little the focus will shift to the OS, interface, and user experience optimization. By then all of our phones will do the same things but how we interact will be based on which OS we buy into. At this point you will see users pick an OS and stick with it for their platform. Those will be the golden years. Unfortunately, we need to get past the lawsuits and the mud slinging between users, corporations, and the news media bias towards anything not Apple.

Don't worry its coming. The SG3 shattered Apple sales records on Pre-Orders many times over; many Apple fans defected. I think Apple finally realizes that the horse and pony show advertising gimmick as well as the negative publicity when they behave badly, is finally having an impact on consumers. If Apple is smart they will change their direction and take on a more friendly approach to business. Tkey also now know that recycling technology is not longer going to fly. Apple needs to learn trying to get consumers to buy a new phone every year is no longer an option. Ironically, they shot themselves in the foot when they set their own policies like subsidization, and no early upgrades. It is kind of hard to get people to buy new stuff evey year when the world economy if terrible. I think a lot of people are looking to cutting edge hardware that has room to grow so they don't have to buy new devices as often. Apple has always taken the safe road, building on old technology optimizing the hell out of it so it just works, and works well. Android goes the high tech, cutting edge route though it pays the price by lacking that optimized experience you get with technology that's been in the wild for a while. People want high tech right now, and something that will last for more then a few months. This is why the GS3 did so well, and why the less optimized quad core would have probably been a better option. Its too bad it "doesn't work" with LTE. My guess is they didn't try too hard, but that's just a theory.

Pick an OS based on which you like and want, not what your friends, the media, or big corporations tell you you should want. It's all BS anyway. Just like Yankees vs Redsox; Republicans vs Democrats; Allied vs Axis; Religion vs Religion; etc. The world is pretty much falling apart in front of our eyes and this petty Google vs Apple vs Microsoft is just another Circus Maximus, created for the same reason it was in Ancient times; to keep the masses concentrated on anything else other then the fact its gotten to the point were we are all pretty much fk'd. I don't want this to turn into a discussion on politics, world economy, etc I am just pointing out that arguing "Who is better" is just stupid.

Pick a device, love it; bast in its warm glow of RF till your brain leaks out of your ears. I am so sick of this company vs company advertising hype BS. Do some of you people actually enjoy your phones or just arguing about them online? ; )

For saying you weren't going to, you sure picked on appl a lot. I still love my iPhone 4S & would stick with it if I could get a bigger phone.
