Galaxy S3 purple/pink screen?

My Galaxy S3 fell today in snow, I quickly picked it up and wiped it really well! After an hour I noticed there was a pink spot on the top left corner of the phone... Slowly after couple hours it spread.. Now my phone is all Purple/Pink.... I can't see or even use it! Please tell me what it is, Water Damage Motherboard or LCD Screen Damage?? :'''''''(

I don't know which it is, but my suggestion is to pull the battery asap, then put the phone in a sealed container of dry rice for a day or two. The rice will help draw the moisture out of the phone.

This definetly sounds like water damage. Pull the battery, and put the phone in something that will dry it (like rice) and leave it for a day or two. Make sure the back, battery and phone itself are all separate in the rice to ensure everything gets dried.

I think it is not moisture problem that caused it. I just got the same screen problem n check online to find solution. This is the only site I found someone faced this problem as my phone.
My S3 was dropped today, abt 3ft heigh on concrete floor at my room. Well nothing happened for hours. Was using it to play game n chats. But all of a sudden the purple/pink started "dominating" screen in fade-in effect. It went brighter n brighter n I quickly switched the phone off. Took out the batt, waited for a while n put the batt in n turned on the phone. Still the same screen problem is there.

Both situations are more or less the same thing. The LCD has been damaged. In your case from inpact, in the OP's case maybe water, maybe also impact.

Why didn't you make a backup during the time that it was working?
Or at least turn off the PIN lock?

Unless you swap the screen with a working one, or use something like a USB dock to allow you to use a mouse/keyboard for input, there's nothing that can be done.

Hi All. My s3 screen turned pink recently and sent the phone to have it fixed as it was still under MFR warranty. They returned the phone unfixed as they seems to be some sort of water demage. As my little one who is 1.5 seen putting into her mouth to play. Question can this still be fix? They phone simply works but with pink screen.

This appears to be a pretty common tactic by Samsung to avoid honoring their warranty.

As my little one who is 1.5 seen putting into her mouth to play.

Although perhaps in your case their response is justified. This is a rather expensive device to use as a teething ring.

Question can this still be fix? They phone simply works but with pink screen.

It can be fixed - you just need to replace the complete screen assembly. Here are a couple of sources for the part:

You may be able to find used replacement screens cheaper, or perhaps there's a local place that offers that kind of repair.

Its a complete problem with the LCD Screen. Replace the LCD screen and enjoy it.

My galaxy s5 turned all black

My galaxy s5 phone felt on the floor 18 cm maybe high then after coupla hours a purple kinda liquid thing appeared in the left upper corner of the phone after half an hour it spreaded to the whole screen I can hear the sound and feel the vibration the buttons are working but its just the screen which turned all black for 2 days and the touch sensitivity is working and all
Tell me what to do asap I cant live without my phone :'(

My s3 was in the pool for about three or four minutes before I noticed it and pulled it out yesterday. Accidentally pressed the power button to see if it was working. Realized it was a mistake and quickly pulled the battery as the screen did not turn on. Placed everything in rice. A day later (the present), I checked to see if it was working and it started up but then the screen turned purple with white text still on it. Pulled the battery and now it's gonna be in rice for another day or two. I'm hoping the rice can draw out any remaining water. Has anyone had a purple screen be okay again?

I have the same case but mine was nothing physically damaged at all. It was just fine last night yesterday before sleeping. I just kept it aside as charging was over and in the morning after 30 min of charging , First have seen horizontal gray lines appearing after an hour ,first purple/pink dots on top left hand corner and slowly spread the entire screen. While I approached service center (hyderbad) they say it could have been pressed (even if you keep in jeans pant, that kind of pressure also could be a issue), I said nothing like that happened. Now even to do entry level screening they said that test may broke your glass so you should be ready to buy a glass which may costs around 8500. This is pathetic, I should have bought cheap smart phone.

I lost confidence in Samsung. Any suggestions to fix this issue? Samsung service centers are useless at least in Hyderabad.
