when this happens only way to turn it back on is plug it on take battery out...

please help this really s me!

thanks

Dudey...this happens to me too...looking at the forums varius explanations:
1. non OEM batteries.
2. defective unit.
3. power saving feature ON.
4. update bug
5. pull out battery for 10 minutes and replace.

it's never happened to me before. i did just install a few camera apps - will try and remove those.

let me know if you found the answer to this problem!!

update: i just replaced my non-OEM battery with the battery that came with the unit, and now the problem is gone. weird. i've used the non-OEM batteries for AGES without any previous problems...maybe they just age?

Wow. Thanks so much. I hadn't even considered the non-OEM battery as a culprit. I took the battery out (identical, Samsung branded battery) and swapped in the original and voila! it worked.

No shut down, nada. Thanks for this tip.

This happened to me while on a recent trip to Hawaii early in July. Had never happened to me before, and only happened to me at one point in time on the trip, despite the fact that I took several hundred pictures over a span of 5 days, and frequently swapped back and forth between 2 batteries. I'd been using the same 2 batteries for a couple months (alternating between the stock battery and a 2300mah 3rd party battery), but I took very few pictures with my S3 before my trip, and even fewer with the flash.

When it occurred, my daughter saw it and said it had happened to her too recently with her S3 (she purchased her S3 at a different time and place than I did). I know she'd also purchased one or more 3rd party batteries for hers, but I don't know if they happened to be from the same online store I bought mine from, or if she was even using a 3rd party battery when she experienced the problem. I don't know if I was using a 3rd party battery at the time either, but I do know that I had plenty of charge in my battery. My assumption at the time was that it was related to a recent update, but my daughter said she never had updates turned on, so I was perplexed at the time. If I experience the problem again, I'll make a note of which battery I have in my phone.
