Arrrghh I'm really starting to get annoyed with my phone now!
For the last 3 weeks or so it will just randomly vibrate at intervals of about 4-5 mintues for no reason whatsoever, the vibration lasts a split second and there seems to be no reason as to why it does it as there are no texts, no new notfications nothing.
I've checked the Samsung account in the System Settings and it doesn't need an update, I've also looked at other apps to see if anything is open in the task manager and nothing is showing.
I love this phone to bits but have to admit the constant random vibrating is starting to really p*** me off.
I've looked for other posts on this and followed their advice but it is STILL doing it and searching on google doesnt seem to yield much results either.
Any help would be really welcome!!!

What have you tried already? I might be able to suggest some things, but don't want to list a bunch of stuff you've already done.

Tried pulling the battery
Restarting the phone
Checking apps uninstalling and reinstalling (heard that whatsapp can cause issues like this)
Looked for samsung account to see if that needed an update (it doesn't)
Checked to see if it does this whilst charging as well as when not charging (it does)

Do you have the Yahoo email app installed? I seem to recall a similar thread and it turned out to be the settings internal to that app. A lot of Android apps control alerts themselves, so any app that might be doing background updates (email, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, maybe even somethings as unlikely as a battery monitor or cpu monitor). And not to overlook the obvious, make sure the clock app doesn't have some kind of reminder set, like buzzing on the hour or half hour. (I'm not sure if it even has the option, but it's possible.)

No I don't have yahoo email app installed .
I've got battery stats pro installed but will try removing this and see if it makes any difference.

Re: S3 vibrates repeatedly for split second for no reason

Removing the battery stats app made no difference but ive Started to notice that this is only happening when I'm at work when I normally have the wi-if option switched off. When I get home and I'm getting data over wifi I've never once recalled it buzzing.
Bit of a long shot but I'm wondering if it could be buzzing to say its discovered wireless networks

Re: S3 vibrates repeatedly for split second for no reason

That's possible. Although if that were the case I think you'd get something in the notification bar, too, but if you're not watching it might go away before you notice. Try going into Settings / WiFi, tap the menu button and select advanced. Make sure Network notification and Check for internet service are unchecked.

You might also check Data usage in Settings. There's an option to "Alert me about data usage."

Re: S3 vibrates repeatedly for split second for no reason

I am making a app that vibrates, I had it vibrate once and it worked fine, then I wanted it to vibrate twice at 2 different times and I wanted to make the first vibrate different so I decided to make it vibrate twice the first time and once the second.

to do this I added the command v.vibrate(new long[]{500,300,500},0); and it started doing the same thing, so I took the command back to :

v.vibrate(500); and it works again. Running Gingerbread on a HTC EVO, actually it's rooted running Cyanogen Gingerbread.

I got the command from a app that I made for my Samsung Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean and I had no issues even though the array was a little longer. I'm wondering if it is a Gingerbread issue?
