Galaxy s4 battery life

Hi Guys and Gals,

I performed a factory reset of the phone and at first that seemed to significantly improve her battery life (getting closer to 4 hrs screen time and 13 hrs on battery) Since then though her battery life has come down again, but this time Maps isn't draining much power. She gets almost 3 hrs screen time and about 10-11 hrs up time. I've tried disabling just about everything including all the location services and Google Now...

She doesn't want an extended battery because she really wants to put the waterproof Seido case on the phone.

Any other ideas??

I just thought I'd give a quick update. One tip I hadn't tried yet was switching my wallpapers to a dark wallpaper (in my case I went with black). I also went through and switched checked if any apps I use frequently have dark themes, and if so switched to them. It really seems to have made a noticeable difference.

I Keep reading this posts, and I see people with 2 hours of screen time, people with 7 hours.

As we know, the screen on Galaxy S4 is AMOLED, which means each pixle is individually illuminated.
So if you wallpaper is mostly black, it will drain much lesser than someone that has it white. If you play a 2D Tetris game, it will drain much lesser than if you play Real Racing...

The only way to see if your phone is defective, is to close all the unneeded apps, connect with a strong signal wifi, and ask one of the guys that has the 7H+ screen time to install the same game as you and play it for 20 minutes. After those 20 minutes, see how much energy your phone drained. If his phone drained 20% and yours drained 40%, than it's clear something is wrong. If his phone drained 20% and yours Drained 25%, there should be no problem ... he just played the game differently and the colors on that level were darker or so.

It's very hard to compare. Probably most of the guys that get 7 hours are goths, so their screen is mostly black and they mostly use dark themes.... so even if the screen is on, most of the pixels are turned off.... I'm getting 2 hours tops of screen on time, but I play a lot of Real Racing, and I use LINE which has the toxic green color... and there's no darker theme for it... anyway, out of the drains, my screen is usually 80%+ ... I have all the apps on.. Google Now, Sync, Weather Widgets and many others on ... but they all together drain under 20% ...

I think it's a waste to get the smartpone with the most features on the market, and disable most of them to save battery life. What I decided to do is to get an external charger, that can charge my phone 3 times from 0% to 100% ... this way I can fully enjoy the Galaxy S4 Experience, without any compromise.

So go on amazon, and get one of the protable chargers ... they even have wireless ones ... or get 1 extra battery...

Hey, I just got my galaxy s4 quad core yesterday and I've been using it and I really do love the phone. However, one issue I'm having is battery life. It is absolutely shocking. As in the battery goes down one percent every 5 minutes, even if I'm just browsing the Web or reading messages. I don't know if this is normal or if I've got a faulty device that I should get replaced.

As in the battery goes down one percent every 5 minutes, even if I'm just browsing the Web or reading messages. I don't know if this is normal or if I've got a faulty device that I should get replaced.

Hi. I have a galaxy S4 and the battery life is horrendous. I don't use my phone any where near the amount most people do.
I may not use it all day yet have to re charge it when I get home.
When I turn it off charge it can suddenly drop 3% charge in a split second.
It was on 100% when I woke this morning. It is now 10.04am and the battery is down to 39% already. I have made a handful of whatsapp messages and been on the internet about 30 mins max!

Mine is shocking too. I carry a spare battery around with me. Never had to with any other phone!

I have the same problem. My battery life is appalling. I hardly use my phone. For example this morning my phone was 100% charged it is now 10.43am and my battery is 26%. I have been on the internet approx 30 mins made about 7 whatsapp messages. No phone calls at all. I have invested in a spare battery to carry around. Never had to do that with any other phone before. If I used it as much as most I would get through about 3 to 4 batteries a day!!
