I frequently get a "Google Play services has stopped" error message. The phone frequently lags just before these messages pop up. I've been scouring the internet for the past 4 hours trying to figure it out. I've done literally everything I can find. I've rebooted, pulled the battery, factory reset, disabled certain apps, re-enabled others, unmount the SD card, and I just cannot find the solution ANYWHERE. It's really getting on my nerves. On top of this, apps won't install. When I go to download an app, it will download the information, but it never installs it and it just sits there. It doesn't even say it's installing it, it gets stuck at the download bar and never goes to the next stage. I'm on a rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 with stock ROM. I have tried EVERYTHING, and it's really pissing me off. I've looked at countless different forums and can't find the answer anywhere.
If I can't get this fixed, I'm going to have to undo my root and get a new phone, because this is just ridiculous. People without root have had the same problem too.
