[GALAXY S4] BUG THREAD!! Found a bug?

This problem is happening to my brother's GS4. He just got it 2 weeks ago.

Although his problem also happens on any regular call.

If he's in a phone call and the display goes off, he can't turn it back on until the other person hangs up.
This happens with or without speakerphone.

It's weird but it's happening. I've never had this problem and in another thread someone else had the exact same problem but don't remember which thread.

Hopefully somebody will chime in with a solution.

This problem is still going on after the MK2 update.
Needless to say my brother isn't happy at all! 😠

i got an OTA on my international S4 GT i9500 model...looked like a small update but totally screwed my battery. The battery which was holding charge for several hours now doesn't retain charge for more than a couple of hours. Upon looking at battery consumption statistics - i was surprised to see that "exchange server" was consuming 88% of battery...rest all was 2%. 3% etc...clearly needs a follow up update by Samsung to fix this.

feeling meh! and pretty annoyed - why can't samsung give an update that doesn't need a follow up to fix things...~~~

Do a factory reset, it'll more then likely help you with that.

I have an issue as well. When I'm viewing a photo someone sends me or I send through a text message I click on the picture to view it then hit the back button to go back to the message but it just goes back to my gallery every time instead of the message. It's so annoying and I don't know how to change it. A friend of mine has the same phone but hers doesn't do this.

Had the same issue on my new GS4 after Kies update plus my service kept dropping off. Tried everything but ended up flashing the origonal 4.2 firmware back onto the phone via odin. Im new to android after jumping from the other side and the proceedure was quite duanting. My GS4 is back running 4.2 and is has no further issues, I wont be tring the update again. Defo a bug with the update for the 19505 model.......

Don't know if this has already been covered (no apparent way to search these threads)... Samsung's "S Memo" app on my AT&T GS4 running Android 4.4 has started crashing whenever I attempt to edit a memo. A pop-up screen that says, "Loading..." opens and never closes. Even a force close doesn't clear this screen; instead, must restart phone. There does not appear to be a way to debug, reinstall, or restore this (or any other Samsung) app. Any non-drastic ideas? (It's not worth doing a system reset over this; I'd rather just switch to an add-on memo app.)

Are you sure you have 4.4 on your GS4?
Because officially, there isn't an update just yet to 4.4.
Anyway, many people recommend doing a factory reset after a firmware update and normally that helps with certain problems.

Sounds like a problem with the proximity sensor:

Try the test mode and see if the sensor stays active after putting up up to your ear.

Found a bug...but seem to be the only one experiencing it. My husband has the same phone as I do, same settings, same everything except I have a white phone and his is black. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I recently updated to Android 4.3. The stock alarm clock on my phone doesn't work. If the screen is lit up and the alarm is set it will sound, but if the screen is turned off it will not sound. I have tried using 3rd party apps as my alarm clock (Alarm Clock Xtreme Free) and also Pandora's new wake up alarm feature and neither app will work. Sometimes I also notice that the clock at the top of my phone doesn't update. For example I wake the screen and it says 6:15 and 10 minutes of use later it still says that the time is 6:15. I have tried the alarm with my clock set to automatically detect the date and time and also to manually set the time. I get the same results....no alarm. We called Samsung and they were completely unaware of the problem but suggested I wait until the next update; whenever that will be :-X. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I've had good success with an app called Digital Alarm Clock. Good luck, too bad they didn't shed some light on when the next update to fix all this 4.3 crap would be. Sorry.

Welcome to the forums!

Have you pulled the battery out yet?
Sometimes something gets stuck when there's an update. Pull the battery out, than put it back and turn the phone on.
See if that helps, if not, you'll need to do a factory reset.

I have pulled the battery out and still have the same results. I was hoping to avoid a factory reset, (just didn't want to deal with it) but it is seeming like my only option at this point. Hopefully it works:-\

Before you do that, check on this:
Go to
*Settings
*More
*Application Manager

Slide to the side to
*All
Choose
*Alarm
Verify the alarm is on.

Mine works fine and this is how it looks:

I've never heard of this problem before.
Maybe the GPS unit is damaged?
Are you still in time to return or exchange it?

Thanks for replying. Seems I've got a faulty unit. Contacted Samsung support, and as usual they proposed a full reset to check this out before taking the plunge to return for repair....

Yea, at least they will be exchanging your device.
Good luck! 👍😃

Since the update, my volume on any call goes to full regardless of the previous sound setting for calls. It's annoying and not good especially if I forgot to put my finger on the volume rocker to immediately lower the volume when the other party starts to talk.

My screen "freezes" whenever anything is plugged into the headphone jack. I've used the earbuds that it came with, and other headphones also. The screen returns to normal function when the headphones are unplugged.

Have you contacted Samsung for help?
Or are you still in time to exchange it?
