Galaxy S4 or HTC One ... my first smartphone purchase

... . At home, I can just stream other huge music/video libraries from other devices/computers using Samsung Link. Since I have a carrier data-plan with a low limit, I won't stream data-heavy stuff like audio/video from any cloud-storage unless I can hook into an available Wi-Fi. I'll write an article shortly on my experiences on setting up and using Samsung Link.
Here is a preliminary version of the article:

As for app storage space again if you prefer something with more storage there are plenty of other options. Just move on. Continuing to post about lack of storage is not going to make Samsung, Verizon or anyone else give in.
.
A local outlet here just had a 1/2 price sale on 32 Gb uSDHC cards so installed one on my S4. Perfect for my audio/image requirements and using/accessing the SD storage is very easy. I really like that this is removable storage.

Thanks for this. After just reading that Android Central S4 review and users comments, it is really refreshing to hear your fair unbiased comments (madlaw1071). I guess audio quality (through headphones, I don't really care about the speaker sound) is secondary for most owners and I didn't see any mention of that in the review. As mentioned elsewhere in another thread, the headphone audio of the S4 is supposed to be excellent. However (and I place this in perspective for the time being), I was a bit alarmed at some comments following the review on the S4 ui (Air Gestures?).

I just got a s4 last night and i can tell you that the sound quality is very different. The sound on htc is absolutely amazing especially in my car, i was very disappointed listening to music this morning on the s4 omw to work. also s4 has a slight lag.

I have both the One and the S4. The music quality thru headphones is equally as good on both phones. Obviously, thru speakers it's a different story.

I wish everybody could have had the luxury to try both extensively like I have had. I can say that all I have learned is that they are both very different handsets with their own strengths and weaknesses. A combination of the two could be the perfect device. I think more than anything it has caused me to take a step back and re-evaluate how lucky I am to even have the choice in the first place. First world problems.

If Verizon had the One, I would have gone with that. But I had to get the S4, and I'm relatively happy.

Hmm not the case for me, I was listening to my music through headphones this morning

Same here. Wife has the s4 and I have the one.. I notice a difference with the audio when it's playing through head phones or the car stereo.. I think the beats makes the sound better on the one

I'd say that is a pretty fair assessment. The S4 headphone audio quality is fabulous with headphone impedances of 16ohm or higher. For the i9505 variant, there is an audio issue with low impedance phones, but several reports with a new firmware indicate that problem has been solved. Through my Senn HD598 (50ohm) the S4 headphone experience is superb, bordering on audiophile quality (at least for 16bit/44.1 kHz uncompressed wav audio). I'm sure the HTC One headphone experience is comparable in audio quality and I'd be equally happy with the One. The S4Qualcomm DAC is very very good, but to experience its true quality (distortion wise etc..) requires high-impedance phones (> ~ 50ohm) or alternately an external high-quality headphone amp. Here is a rudimentary example of something I designed for my own use with my S4 which provides outstanding audio quality sourced by the S4 and into headphones down to 10 ohm impedance: Quad Buffer Amp

Take the comments with a grain of salt. Passions run high and their are fan boys and girls on both sides of the spectrum. I can't stress enough that both are great phones and sometimes it's the things that the reviews don't mention that can mean a great deal to a particular user.

For example, the One has an LED status light BUT it only blinks 2 colors, green and amber. By contrast, the S3/S4 allows you to tweak the LED to a variety of colors. I use my status light so I can differentiate among notifications. Red is a text from my wife, quick flashing light blue is work email, green is a facebook message etc. By doing this, I dont have to turn on the screen to know what notifications are waiting for me and thereby I save battery life.

Again, with the One, you can only turn on the phone by using the power button which is located awkwardly for right handers and is flush with the phone. The S3/S4 lets you wake the phone with the home button too, making it much easier.

Reviews rarely mention things like this.

How did you set up a specific led color for a specific contact?
Thanks
