Galaxy S4 stuck in boot up/safe mode, returns to same screen.

Yesterday I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S4 on concrete. This is not a new occurrence, I always drop it, and there is a case on it as well. However, this time it went to the Android system recovery page. In the drop down menu, the first choice is "reboot system now". When I choose this, it goes to the start up image (Galaxy S4 in white letters against a black background) but then returns to the same menu. I have already taken out my battery for several minutes to no avail. Ideally, I don't won't to have to factory reset.

Welcome to Android Central! Maybe those regular drops have added up. What happens if you select Wipe Cache Partition instead?

Difficult to say. It might have been one drop too many. Perhaps it damaged one of the memory chips or the motherboard.

Pull the battery. Then press & hold Volume Down, Home, and Power until it takes you to the Download screen.

Press Volume Down to restart.
