Galaxy S5 acting strangely: Hey Google, Phone, etc.

About a week ago, I noticed that my "Hey/OK, Google" was very sluggish. I would see the light circling the screen and feel a pulse, but it wouldn't accept the command: "set alarm". Shortly after that, it didn't respond at all. I noticed there isn't the dialogue window with the mic on my home page any more. Then there's the phone: all incoming calls go directly to voicemail ... no ringtone, no vibrating. Thanks in advance for the help.

I see you are a newer user here - welcome to Android Central! I would suggest booting your phone into Safe Mode to see if there is any improvement.

Keep us posted on what happens!

Both Safe Mode used and Cache cleared. No change. It may be time to get a new phone, alas.
For the hey Google try resetting the google app by long pressing it and tap info , then go to storage clear data, cache and force stop , but i agree a newer phone definitely.

Android 6.0.1 OS. Nothing is fixing this. I'll look into a new phone --- not worth the aggravation. Thanks, guys

New Phone? I'll probably stay with Samsung ... I'm open to suggestions. I'm not that dependent on my phone for APPS, but I do want the standard APPs such as maps, etc. to work reliably. Not much on camera or videos or streaming.

If you aren't looking for the most current phone, but a powerful and capable one at that, you could get an S10 or even the Samsung Galaxy A51/A71. All will give you functional Maps and other apps - everything you need!

Or if you want a new phone but don't need the super-expensive flagship, then look into the A51 or A71.

4-1/2 hours online, in chat, on the phone with AT&T trying to get a valid One-Time-Passcode. Finally, finally was able to order it. This is what happens when companies get so huge that a few dozen customers lost to poor customer service is negligible.

Wow! I'm sorry you went through such an ordeal - but at least the phone is ordered! :)

The S10 seems like a sweet little machine. The instructions on getting started were non-existent and, having not had a new phone in many years, the set-up was not intuitive. But thanks to YouTube I got it working. Now waiting for a full charge and then I'll clean it up and make it mine. I can't thank you guys enough for all the help. I was really feeling lost.
