Galaxy S5 Active Knox needs to be reset

A friend of mine can't update his active past 4.4.2 because the Knox counter is 0x1. He had rooted before but now unrooted and never had a custom rom. Does anyone know how to reset Knox or get the phone back to stock firmware. Any help would be good. Thanks.

The Knox bit is a write-once bit, like blowing a fuse. Once it's a 1, you can't make it a 0 again. He'll have to replace the motherboard.
