Galaxy S5 - Can't remove recent history from google search bar in internet or chrome

Hi,

On my phone, I can't seem to get rid of the recent history that drops down when you start a new google search in internet or chrome app.

I have gone through all the setting in the activity control panel, I have deleted cookies and cache and I have hard reset my phone. No luck.

Can anyone tell me what I'm failing to do?
