AC Question

Hi. I've got a Galaxy S5 with Samsung S-view wireless charge cover. My phone updated to Android 4.4.2 the other day and ever since I am getting the "Check Battery Cover" warning a LOT - with no option to dismiss it. By "a LOT" I mean every few seconds, though the frequency can range from a couple of seconds up to a few minutes between instances. But it's driving me crazy - whenever the warning shows it takes focus (active screen) away from the app I'm using (eg when sending a txt). I just did one txt and the warning popped up 3 times as I was trying to type the message.

Short of rooting the phone, is there ANY way to stop these warnings? I am flabbergasted that it seems some operators are able to have a "don't show again" type checkbox for the warning, whereas other operators don't provide such a warning. If there truly is no way to disable these warnings without rooting the phone, I'm done with Samsung. I like the hardware of this phone but this constant barrage of warnings is too, too much.

Note: I have checked and re-attached the battery cover multiple times, making sure that it's well clipped in everywhere. Powered off and on, removed the battery, etc. I haven't yet done a factory reset; that could be an option I guess.

Thanks for any advice!

Jonathan

Try Settings, Storage, Cached Data, and clear the cache. Try also a Cache Partition wipe.

1) Since the battery cover detection doesn't need root, rooting the phone has nothing to do with the problem.

2) I suspect a hardware problem - either with a batch of covers or a batch of whatever sensor they use to detect the cover. Bring it back to the carrier - it's covered under the warranty (and all S5s are still under warranty).

I am having precisely the same issue. My phone will interrupt what I am doing to tell me to check the battery cover. (It interrupted me four times typing this message).

I started getting this issue right after the upgrade to Android v5.0.

It started to prompt occasionally until this morning when it started to prompt me every few seconds, ok for a few minutes, then prompt again every few seconds.
Contacted Samsung Tech Support ... their first recommendation was to Backup and then wipe the Cache Partition.

I did as suggested (took less than 2 minutes) and it seems to have resolved the issue. Phone has been up and functional for over an hour with not a single prompt to check the battery cover.

I was having the same annoying problem but also with "sd card unexpectedly removed" message. thanks for "clearing cache partition" info ... seemed to have solved my problem!

I have the AT&T version of the Galaxy S5.... it's so freaking annoying... it comes up when I'm following directions on Google Maps and I have multiple turns coming up.... it got to the point where I was considering not buying a Samsung for my next phone it was that bad!!! There is no box to check do not show me this again" on the AT&T version.... why would they take that out ?who knows.... I looked all over and I think I found a solution that is simple.... go to system settings..... go to storage..... go to cached data.... and hit delete
.... that's it..... it's been 24 hours I haven't got the annoying message yet ..I keep plugging and unplugging my charging cord just to try to get it to come up....

Many fingers are crossed for you. :)
