Galaxy S5 custom contact notifications not working!

[AC Question]

Hi. I have a S5 from Verizon and have never been able to get custom notifications to work for any specific contacts. Custom ringtones work fine.

I know how to edit the contact, add the notification field and select a custom tone but it will not work. Is there something else I can try besides:

Contact>Add Field>Message Tone>AwesomeSound>Save. ?

It shows it's saved in the phone but just doesn't work. Whatever I set the global one to seems to override it.

You mean for SMS/text messages correct? What messaging app are you using?

I am having the same issue. Although SOME work and others don't.
