Hi

I've followed How to Root Galaxy S5! | GalaxyS5Root.com as a guide to root & install rom for my Galaxy S5 T-Mobile US.
My Recovery mode is running PhilZ Touch 6.26.2 and CWM 6.0.4.7 now.

When i reboot now, i am stuck at the initial boot screen (w/ Set Warranty Bit - Recovery)

I tried to do factory reset - same issue.

My next step would be to install a stock rom, like http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/05/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s5-complete-stock.html

Update: using the stock rom method i was able to restore the phone to stock.

Any other suggestions?

(This could be a double post due to a browser refresh - if so my apologies)

Hi

So, is your phone still unusable? Or did the return to stock get your phone back in working order. and you want to re-root?

All those guides linked to in post #1 are hopelessly out-of-date, (July 2014). Both for rooting and restoring firmware. Looks like they were written for Android 4.4.2, KitKat. Current firmware for T-Mobile (USA) is Android 5.1.1, Lollipop. PhilZ abandoned his custom recovery updates over a year ago.

You need to download the latest stock T-Mobile (USA) firmware and flash it to your phone using Odin and by following the instructions and video contained in the links of #1.11 of 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide.

Here is the stock firmware for the G900T model...

Model SM-G900T
Model name GALAXY S5
Country USA (T-Mobile)
Version Android 5.1.1
Changelist 5406928
Build date Mon, 14 Dec 2015 03:46:09 +0000
Product code TMB
PDA G900TUVS1FOL1
CSC G900TTMB1FOL1

I've returned it back to stock rom, G900TUVS1FOL1 - so far ok. Thanks for the help!

Next I wanted to install is CM12 or CM13

HanUS, just for your future information - rooting depends on both the model phone AND the version of Android (sometimes even the date of the kernel).
