Galaxy S5 Needs more RAM.

I had the Note 3 and it had 3 gigs of RAM but it also used more RAM than the S5 does. Since the N3 uses more RAM it isn't like having more RAM.

I agree with you, if your phone has the same amount of ram as the galaxey 3 then it really does need more ram.
I had just gotten my galaxy 3, and when i got it i downloaded advanced task killer. It told me i had nearly 800-900 ram. Its been a few months now and i've only downloaded kik, fb, skype, a few games and whipser. my sd card is in with all my videos and pictures. Its now telling me i have less than 300 ram. it glitches and freezes. I can't even unlock the screen. I've cleaned it i've tried almost everything to get more ram but its not working. I have the task killer on every time the screen goes black and level aggressive. Tried everything and it litteraly has NO ram. So yes, many people must be getting this problem because ik it can't be just me. Its better than my nook but not as good as i hoped for it being my first phone along with only having it sense christmas. [

The phone is designed to utilise as much ram as possible; why would you want to see lots of unused ram?
Stuttering on the S5 is unlikely to be a lack of ram, more a result of UI.
I have an S3, S5 and note 3 and the S5 is a little quicker than the note I would say.

I'm a bit concerned because my RAM capacity is showing 1.66GB available, while screenshots here show 1.81... what am i viewing/doing wrong?

Unlike Windows operating systems, with Android OS the following is true...

"Unused RAM is wasted RAM!"

The moment you clear your RAM, Android will just use what it needs again. One of the reasons that you should never, ever, use Task Killers on Android OS.

Also, are you running a carrier branded firmware? These can contain system installed carrier bloatware that runs all the time and reduces your available RAM. I have a stock unbranded Samsung firmware and have 1.7GB of available RAM.
