Problems:
no use of keys cannot power on or off
holding 3 buttons results in same screen.
remove battery to shut off, after reinstalling and hitting power the same screen returns
PC does not recognize device

Any suggestions outside of using a hammer.

Thanks, I followed those instructions and the results were not the same which is the problem in post #1. As to reactivation: if a password was required to turn it on then it should be off. I didn't enter any passwords and am not subscribed to any carrier. My phone looks like the one in the video at 2:47 mark, with added lines in top left corner.

The phone is working again. reloaded the Samsung drivers pulled the battery and reloaded(twice) then did a download boot and the correct screen appeared. There is no reactivation info under security. My phone is a refurbished unlocked one.
Thanks for the help, will watch the video one more time then attempt to root again.

Well, tried again and same result as in post 1. It requires battery removal to shutdown. Then pressing Download mode and it works. I did an upgrade of Tmobile system to v6 and it worked.Tried CFRoot and the same negative results. I did get into my phone working but after trying again the only access I have is download mode.

I re-installed Tmobile latest and now the phone works again. It does not seem to want to be rooted.
files used

CF-Auto-Root-kltetmo-kltetmo-smg900t.tar.md5
tried odin 3.12.3 worked for system not for cfroot and neither did Odin 3.10.6
Suggestions.

Well the root didn't work and had to go through all the steps above. It worked after loading the latest Tmobile system. I had to do this each time to get my phone to work. Everything works even power button. It is just not rooted. Suggestions on rooting would be graciously accepted. Thanks

Link to the CF-Auto-Root kernel that you are attempting to root your G900T with?

This is the file location.

That is the correct CF-Auto-Root kernel for the G900T model on Android 6.0.1. You are flashing the unzipped file via Odin in, "AP:", and it shows as succeeding. You should have SuperSU installed in your app drawer and Root Checker should be able to verify root.

I only wish that were the case. Root Checker Basic: 'Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device'. And, no SuperSU either in apps section. I have downloaded it from chainfire.eu though and it is in my Odin directory.

Thanks! That's odd that original CSC code is not displayed. Just checking the obvious... you have enabled, "Developer Options", on your phone and, "USB debugging", and you installed the latest version of SuperSU, (2.78), manually.

No SuperSU installed because device is not rooted. I do have it ready to install though.

SuperSU should automatically install when you actually root your phone and then update, through the Play Store, to the latest version, 2.78.

It didn't work with Odin. I now have a new screen by using ADB in Administrator mode cmd.
Did this and my phone display shows:

Android Recovery

Apply update from ADB
apply update from SD card

When I clicked Power Off device rebooted to above screen. Unplugged device, hit PO button and it powered off. On powering on, device boots into the screen above.

Not sure what to do now, found instructions http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_klte.
Do I just proceed and follow step 7 ?

I cannot understand why you cannot root by using CF-Auto-Root on your G900T model. Millions have used that method worldwide. Perhaps you could try One Click or Kingo Root. None of those ADB options can root you. Alternatively, try flashing the stock Samsung firmware for your phone and try CF-Auto-Root again.

will give it a go straight away with both methods and see if one works Thanks, it could take me awhile.

checked one click version 6.0.1 is not on the list to be able to be rooted. version 5.1.1 is supported. I will try to find and install version 5.1.1

found installed. TWRP installed and device rooted. All is ok. Cyanogenmod 13 next.
CM 13 & Gapps installed have an authentication problem for wifi and cannot get past it. Does one have to have a sim card while doing this?

All questions answered, everything installed and phone running. Thanks Ironass. Definitely more knowledgeable about phones than 48 hrs ago.
