Galaxy S5: Question about gallery layout

OK I have a different problem someone else has already mentioned it... my Facebook pictures aren't syncing I have sync on I go to the box to check display Facebook but it's grayed out I can't select it or Picasa Anyone know what I can do?

I'm beginning to get extremely frustrated. So I switched from an s3 to an s5, and of course swapped over my old albums and photos. When I plug my sd card into the s5 the albums are all there, but the photos within the album are jumbled, and appear to have more recent ones at the bottom. I have to scroll through hundreds of screenshots (in my screenshot album) just to see my more recent ones. The worst part is that its not even in order half the time. some old ones are at the bottom along with new ones. I plugged the sd card back into the s3, and what do you know they are in the wrong order now. Luckily I saved copies of the albums in the right order. The photos I transferred not via sd card do the same thing too. Only a few of my albums (camera) stayed in order. I'm thoroughly annoyed.

I have tried everything to get my pictures in to folders on my s5 sd card. My latest attempt was this. I used Keis 3. I just uploaded from my laptop to my s5. I then opened up to find, like everyone else, that I had hundreds of pictures in one album. I the created a new folder on the s5 and placed some pictures in it to try. That worked but, it saves the new album to the internal memory and I am unable to find out how to move the folder to the sd card. This is just one crazy situation. If this carries on it will be goodnight Samsung.

I just "jumped" from S4 to S5 and the Gallery feature is horrible and completely useless when trying to organize photos with other apps. With the S4 I was able to view my individual Facebook Photo Albums, Dropbox Photos/Subfolders, Picasa Albums, and Instagram photos in the native Gallery app. Wonderful, a one stop source to view all things photos!

With the S5 I can no longer view ANY of my Instagram photos from the native gallery app and all photos from Facebook/Dropbox/Picasa are lumped into one folder respectively with no Album/Subfolder organization. My Facebook Folder has all my Facebook photos in random order which makes it useless to search/view with several hundred photos. Dropbox and Picasa have their individual folders as well with the difference that the photos seem to be categorized by time; at least.

Some have said there are work arounds. Well, accessing the individual Gallery, Facebook App, Instagram App, Picassa App, Dropbox App to view all things photos is not a work around; it's **** poor design by Samsung and an inefficient use of technology. Quickpic does not allow you to view your Facebook, Instagram, Picassa Photos/Albums/Photos. It has a slightly better UI over the native gallery app and maintains the same limitations.

The finger print scanner so far has been useless. Scanning few times to unlock your phone is, again, poor design and a waste of time.

The heart rate monitor is interesting as it offers several different results in a short period of time. I guess my heart rate is going up just by using this "next best thing."

Don't think this problem is unique to the S5! I have a Samsung Galaxy S Tablet and same issue! All Facebook photos in one folder and all Dropbox in one. Very frustrating - think I'll go onto a 3rd party gallery app for now.

SOLUTION!!

Hey guys this problem was bugging me as well until I found the simple fix... so I created this account to help. This was performed on the Note 4 and applies to Dropbox... I'm guessing fixes Facebook issues as well.

I put the gallery into album mode using the top left menu and then select the options from the three dots at the top right select "Content to display" and then at the bottom under "Format" select "View in original folder structure." That's it!

Where is this "format" select located?

When I open up my gallery... first make sure in "album view" (top left setting) then hit the three dots in the top right corner, select "content to display" "Format" should be the last heading. Again this is on the Note 4.

I have similar issue on the Tab S. Picasa and Facebook are in just 2 huge albums. Sadly solution mentioned by jmarlow03 (thanks for the effort) doesn't work on mine.

I'm a current user of S4s on official Samsung OS and Cyanogen, both phones have the proper albums.

Has this been resolved? I'm also experiencing the same issue. I just got an s5 and I had moved all my stuff from my s3 and it was also separated into albums (1 general Facebook album bc I didn't separate that into sub albums), a downloads album that included downloads from browser and messages, a screen shots album and a pin album, and some others. All the albums were sorted correctly on my SD card but in my gallery it all displays in one album and it's over 5000+ pics! HELP!!!!!

Nvm, I fixed it!!!! I went to my Gallery then clicked the top left corner with the three lines, then I clicked View by and selected Album. It's fixed for me. I hope this works for others!

Again... see post #9 of this thread.

Sorry. I am not experiencing the same issue then. I did not have my Facebook downloaded pics in separate albums, they were all in one Facebook album. I am not sure how to fix that.

This happened to me after either updating my firmware from KitKat 4.4.4 to Lollipop 5.0 or moving photos, videos and music to SD card.

Regret my actions. Will call Samsung Technical Support in the morning and make them resolve the matter and if they can't sort it out within 72 hours then I will make a claim for a brand new S5 G900F under my warranty agreement. They did not tell me the changes the firmware update would make to my device so this is a breach of trading practices. Oh and on top of it all, they have added more system apps like they were not already enough (system apps constitute to like 4 or 5GB of device memory) !!!

Advice: Don't update your device to Lollipop 5.0. You will regret it.

Will post an update asap.

So I contacted Samsung Helpdesk and spoke to Beth.

She advised the following;

1. Backup device using Kies 3 (Kies 3 for versions 4.3 and above, Kies for below 4.3)

2. Factory reset device

3. Restore all backed up content from Kies to device

3. Likelyhood is that the issues will get resolved

4. If the problems are not eradicated after the factory reset process then contact Samsung again for further advice and possibly send device in for a diagnostic and possible repair or replacement.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this solution!!! I have a Note 4 and this problem has been driving me crazy! Its all fixed now.

Solved yet?

I used this solution to solve my issue (and as an FYI I have Lollipop)
