Galaxy S6 Active

Was wondering if it uses the Sony sensor or samsung sensor

So does this one: Samsung Galaxy S6 Active specs
From Samsung's page: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...2Fcell-phones%2FSM-G890AZWAATT&token=qOVlYNny

"The ultra-responsive 16MP rear-facing camera with built-in Optical Image Stabilization and Auto HDR will help you take great shots anywhere, every time."

No idea what sensor is in the phone. All I know is that the camera is just as good as the regular Galaxy S6's camera.

I think it's funny, people asking which sensor is in the camera ... as if they would say "Oh ... it's THAT sensor? Well, I WAS going to get an S6 Active, but since it has THAT sensor in the camera, forget it." :D

That's the part that makes no sense to me...why only on ATT? I'm not in the market for one either way as I already have the Edge but still...if Samsung is investing in getting these things built and out for consumers then why are they only selling them through ATT? You would think "they" would also be available on Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, as well as the smaller carriers that also have the S6 and the Edge??? Not sure if this is a Samsung thing or all the other carriers don't want it??? Stupid!

Yes. AT&T Exclusive but maybe there will be unlocked
International versions like my
Alpha 850M which has all the Bands for Metro/Tmobile except the new LTE Band 12.
The other option is to purchase and unlock but not sure if ALL the Bands are in the AT&T Version for Metro/Tmo and other Carriers.

Also on unlocked phones even WITH all the Bands they lack specific Carrier Software for VoLTE and Wifi Calling- you won't get that on an International unlocked or
other Carrier unlocked phone.

I am trying to get the S6 Camera ( or equal )in a phone that is durable, not huge S6 Active is really too big but..
to get that Battery and Camera and hopefully 6 plus hours SOT...might be worth it.
But not for a compromised phone that will not perform fully on my Carrier.

I HATE the physical buttons though- even one physical HOME button on Samsung is too many but to have to press those physical buttons so many times per day ...ugly cumbersome...and I don't see why they would be more durable- just for show..IMO.
an ugly show.

I would like to see an S6 Pro that is exactly like a regular S6 but with a large Battery like S6 Active and 8.0 millimeters thick.

With a heavy glass screen protector and even a Casemate Naked case( slim) or similar- that is durable enough for me.
S6 Pro anyone?

What does it matter to you what I want in my phone that'll be in my possession especially since I have to pay the full price. If I am picky with my phone doesn't mean it has to affect you

Lots of people say this. It's not ugly at all to me, and for the insane battery life I'm getting, you can keep your super thin sexy GS6. Different strokes for different folks.

The " Thinness Race" started to an extent by Reviewers and people at various Manufacturers who think that
people buy Iphones because they are " Thin"is an amazing
backwards development in Phone Technology to me.

The Reviews almost all list the " Thinness" of a phone as a prime specification in the first two or three sentences.

Pocket sized ability to carry and hold a Phone are NOT affected by 1 millimeter of thickness IMO.

So if S6 was a millimeter or less thicker you could have a large battery and be free for 10 to 12 hours.

Spending $ 700 for a phone with a weak, small battery that is non removable is a bit of a stretch to me.

Also the Eagle Retina screen - I think the same screen with PPI about a hundred pixels less would be hard to see any difference ( except your pet Eagle ). Extra pixels eat battery and more heat-
Eventually we may see HD/2K switching.
Write Emails at HD watch Movies and edit photos at 2K 4K etc.

But really , the thinness- smaller battery , is the real problem for people like me who use their phone like a Computer and a Phone- and that's the point of fast CPUs - right ?

It doesn't matter to me, but that doesn't mean I can't find it humorous, especially when it's been proven that the sensors are practically equal, just with very small amounts of different pros/cons having to do with good lighting conditions vs. poor. The differences are so small that it seems impossible to imagine someone choosing to get the phone or not get the phone due to which sensor is in the camera.

Curious, can anyone with the active tell me if there are settings for wi-fi calling in the menus? I want to bring one over to t-mobile, not sure if wi-fi calling would still work or not.

Thanks!

I can guarantee Wi-Fi calling is not included, at least a version that would be compatible with T mobile.

End of full day, fairly heavy use. Several phone calls, lots of streaming music over LTE. Lots of Clash of Clans. I'm happy with it, and I know I can do better.

8.5 hours of screen time, and you still have more than 25% power remaining ... that's awesome!
