Galaxy S6 Battery Life Thread

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

Sorry to hijack this thread but ive had the update..cache wiped..power saving on etc etc etc battery drain is horrific! After a full charge ive lost 5% in literally 3mins! GSAM showing phone radio as the culprit - any ideas? No such issues prior to the update.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

Give All Things GS6 a read and try to optimize your battery performance. Poor service reception will cause excessive battery drain.

Btw I quit using GSam due to quirky readings. Never seemed to stay near accurate for me. With that said, looks like you are in the same boat. How could the screen take 265% of a battery and apps take -241%? Cooky

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

For those on ATT who found the battery life went down after after 5.1.1 update, try this: With the 5.1.1 update ATT enabled Enhanced 4G LTE services. That significantly reduces battery life. If you don't need HD voice, try disabling that.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

Not enabled here. Battery drain is absolutely accelerated post-update, but all of the regular suspects have been eliminated.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

I have a Nexus 6p that started displaying the same thing yesterday. Battery has been draining extremely fast (Phone is only few weeks old). Sorry to post it in this topic but wanted to see if anyone has found a resolution.

Thank you.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

What is your actual signal strength? Not how many bars but actual xxdB signal strength.

At home I am getting 3 bars mostly and signal strength is about -99 to -105. If that considered a strong or weak signal? I have generally found that I have much worse reception than my wife or kids iphones (at the same ocation, same time, etc) and we are all on AT&T.

My battery life is atrocious and I have tried every tweak on all of these boards. I wonder if its signal strenth.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

Anyone having a problem with fast charging. Got an update this morning and now fast charging is gone.

On T Mobile.

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

That's pretty weak service. Mines -102 to -116 at my house. BFE ftl.

so yours is worse than mine (the more negative the number the weaker the signal, right?). Hows your battery life?

Re: S6 battery draining after 5.1.1 update

Yes correct. Honestly while working I get worse battery life than when I'm at home all day. I avg -70 while working. The problem is, I'm a delivery driver so I'm always on the go. Never at the same place for more than 2 hours normally. I don't use my phone much. Today I got 12 hours on time with unknown screen on time (less than 1.5 hours) and I'm at 35%.

While I'm at home all day, on wifi there, I'll get 15ish hours on time with 3.5 SOT.

Re: Android System draining battery.

Seems to be an old thread, but I'll add that last week, it was ANdroid OS eating up the battery. Today, it's Android System. What's the difference between the two? A couple of days ago, I could go over 24 hours with OS and SYStEM running around 6%. Now, with less than 12 hours, it's at 20%. It's not the least bit consistent, and my day-to-day activities on the phone are pretty much the same.

How do I get battery last longer on my AT&T Galaxy S6?

My battery life on my Galaxy S6 is horrible! I would only last like 5 or 3 hours screen on time. But my battery drains fast. Is there any way I can make my phone last longer without worrying that my phone will die during the day? I love my phone, it's just the battery life that kills me. If you have any tips or suggestions please comment it will really help!

Re: Android System draining battery.

How does anyone go a day with this phone? 24 hours? I'm lucky to get 12-13 and maybe 3 hours of SOT, but that's pushing it.

Re: Android System draining battery.

I'm on a Galaxy 5 and get maybe the same screen time as you between charges, but with my usage, I can get maybe a day and a half til I'm down to 10 percent. Lately, it seems worse some days and very inconsistent (on Android 5.1.1).

Re: Android System draining battery.

Before 5.1.1, my battery life was average but tolerable. Since the update, its been terrible. I unplug around 6am and by noon I need to recharge. I have tried turning off Location, sync, auto brightness, none really make a noticeable difference. When I restart my phone the % drop is better for a little, but the more I use the phone the worse it gets.

Really missing the battery life of my 2013 Moto X.

How is battery life after latest updates and over time

I am considering getting an S6. Everything, in my opinion, seems pretty awesome except for the battery life from what I have read. Has the battery life gotten better with updates? Has time made the battery perform worst? Any insights would be appreciated.

Re: Android System draining battery.

So is the 5.1.1 update the issue for the S6? I don't see the Android System as draining my battery. Screen is my highest user generally speaking. I just got the phone a week ago and so it immediately updated to 5.1.1. I'm considering returning for the Note 5 (I can't convince myself that battery life is better) or leaving Sprint for Verizon and the Turbo 2. Decisions!!! This S6 is disappointing *only* because of the battery life. It's my third Galaxy (S2 and S4 before this) so I'm a huge Samsung fan but holy smokes, this sucks.

Re: Android System draining battery.

I agree with both posts above. Most likely is the 5.1.1 update. I have also tried disabling some apps, screen brightness, etc., and nothing seems to make a difference. Used to be the Screen Time was the highest offender, but now it's either Android System or Android OS, and I have no clue what either of those does. I've given up on extraordinary battery-saving things as nothing seems to make much of a difference. Battery runs down less in AM, faster in the afternoon and evening with more usage (which, I would suspect, is normal). Turning on the phone around 6AM and by Noon or so, still around 80%. By 5 it's close to 50% and it's downhill quickly from there. As I said, I am not using it excessively, but before the update I could go two full days on a charge (shutting the phone off around 11PM-6AM).

Re: Android System draining battery.

hybucket - that's where I am with the S6. I unplugged about 5:45 this AM. 4 hours later I'm at 80%. I'll be slightly above 50 when I leave work at 3PM. Then it goes downhill fast from there. This is super disappointing.
