Galaxy S6 Edge Screen Spontaneously Cracked

I'm posting this here to see if anyone else has experienced this. My wife has had a Galaxy S6 Edge for about 3 months now, and hasn't had any problems with the phone other than it gets pretty hot when charging. Yesterday, she showed me that her phone had an update but the battery was too low to initialize the update. At that time, the screen had zero cracks in it. She set the phone down on the couch next to me and went upstairs to get her charger. When she came back and plugged her phone in, the phone screen was completely shattered as if it had been dropped on gravel. I know 100% that from the time I looked at her phone and when she discovered it cracked, it had not sustained any kind of fall or impact. I am absolutely at a loss for how this kind of thing could have happened. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Yes same happen with my phone never drop it mines cracked after i put screen protector on mines

Bought a new S6 Edge from the Samsung store in Central Festival, Phuket, on 1st September. On the 11th September, I noticed that there was a diagonal crack on the screen in the lower half. Very difficult to see, particularly if the phone is switched on, the tell tale being a slight shading difference between the 2 cracked halves (you also cannot feel any crack whilst moving your finger across the screen). Took the phone back to the shop, and received a very negative attitude from the manager. The phone was in a case from the moment I purchased it, and looking at the phone completely, there is absolutely nothing to indicate that it has been dropped or suffered impact (I know that it hasn't).

Bottom line, is that less than 2 week of owning the phone, I have to pay around $200 equivalent for a new screen, and in the circumstances, will then constantly wonder when it's going to happen again. My wife and I have owned 4 Samsung phones, an S3, S4, and a Note 3. The S6 Edge will be the last Samsung product that I will ever buy.

I would Call a supervisor at Samsung and try to get a new phone and not pay a dam cent for this cracked screen. This is not your fault at all.

This is not as rare as it may seem. Read THIS XDA THREAD. A few participants have been successful having the screen fixed by Samsung without charge.

Bought my phone 3 days ago. This morning when I got to work, noticed a crack was starting in the upper left corner of the screen and came down to the lower right. Phone was never dropped, damaged, heck I hardly had enough time to use it! Over the many years I've had dozens of phones and almost never use a case and not once have I ever cracked a screen. Same goes for my wife and the many phones she has used. And now to have a crack randomly show up after 3 days of limited use?! Bought the phone from Bestbuy and of course they couldn't help me at all. Same goes for AT&T. There's a Samsung service center about 60 miles from where I live, so I think I'll drive down there and see what luck I have.

I did an upgrade and the phone was fine I went to bed for the evening plugged in the phone to charge it when I woke up in the morning my screen was cracked. Now it's going to cost me $160 to have the phone replaced.

i dont know about the rest of the world but here in india, samsung includes a one time screen replacement offer along with the s6 edge (no idea about the regular s6) for Rs. 980 (around 15 usd). now after reading this post, i am beginning to think this actually might be an issue samsung knows about and that is why it is offering such an offer. what do you guys think?

My S6 edge cracked without any impact. i was holding it in my hand and suddenly heard a crack that started on the left upper side of the phone. After a few seconds the crack developed diagonally across the screen to the right lower side. I do not understand this! I will just call Samsung to hear what they have to say about it. Hope they can repair it!

They should this is a manufacturer's defect and they are responsible for it not you.Speak to a higher up than a call center agent they usually give you. They should replace this crack FREE!

I'm just adding to the list of people with exactly the same issue. I am the most anal person any of my friend's know about my phones...never had a cracked screen in my life and have only owned my S6 for a couple months. I upgraded from an LG G2 with a mint screen after 2+ years BTW. Like others, I NEVER dropped my phone or in any way put any stress on the screen. Looked down today and thought I had a hair or something on my screen, but instead noticed a hairline crack from the upper left of the screen down to the bottom right. I'm so pissed right now.

Just spent about an hour in a chat with a Samsung supervisor...went through all the details and they would not do anything at all to help..just offered to repair at the regular rates. I told him I would never buy another Samsung product in my life and would share my experience with as many people as I could and encourage them to stay away as well. Now I'm just got to figure out what I'm going to do with a 45-day old defective S6.

My husband had the same issue!! We're currently fighting with Verizon for a fix of some sort!

I had a samsung s6 edge plus 3 weeks old do the exact same thing because of this forum proving my case it wasnt an isolated incident. I put my phone on charge while it was in my hand because i was using the internet at the same time, with in 5 minutes of it being on charge i heard the phone make a little click sound look down at the screen and there was a crack from the lock button all the way to the other side of the screen also one from where the first crack ended all the way up and around the edge screen past the volume keys...samsung wont cover it under warranty but optus waived the insurance fee and are replacing it with a refurbished phone and paying my next bill for the stuff around..as fixing this phone is pointless because the problem is in the battery so next time it gets hot it will just crack the new screen. Hopefully samsung get there next phone right.

This type of problem might happened due to excessive battery heat. When I was in Hawaii similar type of issue happened to my Galaxy S5 & screen was got cracked. With the advice of a friend I went to TCA Wireless and they expert team fixed my problem in quicker time.

My daughter's phone did exactly the same thing. Has a shattered spot on the upper right side running downward to the left is a long crack. I called T-Mobile about this and was told that cracks arent covered under the warranty and that my insurance deductible would be $175.00 to fix it. SAMSUNG told me I could mail it to them and they could run tests to determine what caused the damage and would replace phone but if it was determined not to be a malfunction of the phone then I would have to pay to fix it.

Hi.
It just happened to my wifes GS6 Egdge Plus too! Screen just cracked after charging with the wireless charger!
Screen cracked straight from the right side (Looking at the phone), close to the bottom, all the way to the top more to the middle of the phone.
What we understood is that the change of temperature caused that as the phone is always very hot (specially after charge) then she went into a air-conditioned room.
