Galaxy s7 External speakers play sound while earbuds are plugged in

I have my earbuds plugged into my phone and my notifications are playing in both places.

I have it all the way plugged in and they work correctly in other devices.

This problem is driving me nuts too. I installed sound about app - it is totally cryptic and I can't work out which setting work for automatic detection - if any.

yeah yesterday I was in a coffee shop and had my ear buds plugged in, then I was browsing through my ringtones trying to select one and noticed that the sound was coming mainly from the phone speaker not through the earbuds, very annoying :(

The "fix" is normally a replacement phone, unless it's a software problem, in which case a ROM reflash may fix it.

I pretty much always have my phone on vibrate, but after seeing this thread I thought I would check it. And yep my phone does the same thing.

If you're coming from a different brand, you'll see this as a bug. Samsung Galaxy phones have been this way for a few versions. It's annoying but we've come to terms with it.

Yes, this has been standard for Samsung going back to my S3.
