AC Question

Hi all. My galaxy S7 keeps randomly jumping to maximum media volume when my earbuds are in. I could be listening to Spotify, Youtube, playing a game, anything. It happens sporadically about every 8-12 minutes. I can't figure out what is going on - it's really starting to get annoying and is destroying my ears. Any ideas what is going on?

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen with other earbuds? Try using earbuds that don't have a mic or remote control buttons. It's possible that your earbuds have a plug that isn't entirely compatible with the jack's configuration, which is sending false volume commands to the phone.

I have the same issue with or without headphones. It also happens with headphones that do not have volume control in-line. It happens regardless of the source of media (Netflix, YouTube, Google music, Pandora, Spotify, SoundCloud), and it occurs even when there is no media playing (media volume set to mute when I go to sleep, wake up and it's at max).

Welcome to Android Central! You have an S7 as well, correct? How often does it happen? If it's pretty frequent, try booting into Safe Mode and see if it happens then. If not, then some app you installed is presumably causing the problem, but it can be challenging to figure out which one it is -- you may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28008
