Galaxy S8 Changes for no Apparent Reason

Soon after disconnecting a phone call on my S8 (Android Vesion 9) a number of display and app changes happened for no apparent reason.

The home page app icons have lost their sharp well-defined edge and look, as well as becoming larger. The contacts app looks like a different app.

It's as if the whole phone display elements have been enlarged and flattened.

Thanks for your reply. I think I described the problem incorrectly by emphasing the look of the home screen. The home screen looks fine, except for the disappearance of the frame around the icons, which provided additional icon definition.The real problem is that my apps, and other system fuctions seem to have been replaced with different versions, which look and function differently. I actually saw the "Close All" symbol morph into a different symbol as the whole change was taking place. Have you ever heard of this happening?

It'd still help to see a screenshot, since that might trigger immediate recognition for people who are familiar with the issue.
