Android Central Question

I want to be able to turn caller ID on and off quickly with a short cut rather than having to go through the steps from phone symbol -settings - more settings - caller ID.
Does anyone know if this can be done please?
Sometimes I am making calls where I dont want my number stored and put on the marketing list.
Thanks for any help. K

You want an app that adds a widget to the quick settings menu.

Sounds like something BlackBerry may have once had.

Bixby can perform a series of steps. Like a macro, invoked by a simple command.

It would be nice if Bixby commands could be a widget with a desktop icon button.

Not sure if this would work, but you'd need a widget that creates shortcuts to activities.

I really don't know of a stand alone app that does that, but its built into Nova Launcher. You just add an activities widget on the screen, then go to Phone activities and select caller ID service. It would create a widget that when clicked, takes you to a screen to request caller ID service on or off.

Worthless

well depending on how skilled you are with android will determine how helpful this will be to you cause it's not the easiest thing in the world (it's not a for sure thing but it should be of help since I've done something similar)

What I've done is have a Device Maintenance shortcut to my Edge pannel, instead of digging thru settings to see how much storage or battery have been used I have a one click shortcut

I've downloaded an app called QuickShortcutMaker

once I've downloaded it I opened the new app and went to Device Maintenance (which is where the info I want is located in) and selected for example Battery Info (which is named "com.samsung.android.sm.ui.battery.BatteryActivity") and you can test it before creating the subject via test button, once that is done it'll add an app style icon to your homescreem and that will always lead me to my battery info (or anything else you put)

I've went one step further and added it to my tasks edge screen so I can have access from any screen not just the home screen

So the idea is to find out what app is the caller ID setting under and find it thru the QuickShortcutMaker app and try to make a direct shortcut to it. I've done it with plenty of apps not supported by Samsung (Textra Quick SMS is a great example) but some apps refuse to work. Good luck!

There are several apps in the Play Store that can do this.

Hi again,
I tried the Prime version of Nova Launcher and found pathways for creating new activities in widgets, but couldn't see an easy way of adding a sub-item.

Rather than spend more time trying to figure it out, I tried another suggestion of editing specific contacts and numbers in my contacts list that i want to hide my number from by adding #31 # in front of the number. This worked, so I'm happy with that.

Thanks again for the input.
Regards,
K

That is a very useful tip that would be hard to find.

Bixby to the rescue... thank me later lol:
Bixby will do this for you in one step. The commands are:
" Turn off caller ID" and "Turn on caller ID"
