Galaxy S8+ on a GSM network?

I have a Verizon S8+. ( Samsung S8 G955V ) - can that phone work on a GSM (AT&T type) network that the rest of the world uses? I want to send it to another country but they are mostly all GSM.
Or is that phone permanently married to CDMA (Verizon type) network?.

Looks like all US S8's are the same hardware, and each carrier flashes their own firmware. XDA has some guides on how to flash a different carrier firmware. That did the trick for me. I flashed the Verizon firmware and it works now. Battery life is not as good with the VZW firmware anymore. But at least I can even flash the unlocked firmware and have a bloat ware free phone with better battery again

How do I flash AT&T firmware onto a Verizon S8+ phone and not brick it?
