Galaxy s9+ Power saving mode background data

[Android Central Question]

Under power mode > medium power saving > uncheck restrict background data > apply, then background data is still being restricted, as seen from my Google map saying "GPS signal lost" when screen is turned off. Isn't this faulty? With that setting the background data is supposed to be on right? But it looks like I am not getting background data, even when "restrict background data" was unchecked.
