Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - 1GB ram?

Hi - my 10.1 tab 2 is supposed to have 1GB ram but the other night I got a warning that it was running low on memory. I had a few applications open so I closed them. Then I noticed that it said 651MB/759MB - surely this can't be right? It's supposed to have 1GB ram. Even when I clear memory it still says 759mb. So what happened to or is using the other 241mb ram?

Android and other functions that your phone needs to run will always take up some of the ram.
