Galaxy tab 2 unable to change time/date

I have a galaxy tab 2 10.1, about a week ago the battery died and when I recharged/restarted the time and date had reset to 00:00 01 January 2000. When going into settings and selecting the option either to change the time or the date it hangs for a while on the setting page then returns to the homepage with the message "Unfortunately settings has stopped". I am able to switch between 12/24 hour clock, change the time zone, and date format all in the same settings page all without hanging/crashing/any issues.

I have tried with and without WiFi on, with and without aeroplane mode on, with the charger plugged in or not, and in safe mode, all with the same result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is stopping me from running certain apps and accessing some websites.

Many thanks for your response, I have followed the instructions in the link and selected the wipe cache option, an android and the message erasing appears and then the tablet reboots. When trying to change the time and date following this the original problem persists and I am unable to alter the time or date. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Odd problem. The firmware might be glitchy. You could try re-flashing the stock ROM using Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html. Find the proper firmware here: Firmwares - SamMobile

Thank you very much for your assistance. I have successfully completed the steps in your last post and my problem has been resolved. I have now been able to reset the time and date so that they are accurate. Thank you once again.
