I bought a Galaxy Tab. And I can tell you that what I wanted are those apps I saw in the ads. The email, calendar, contacts. In addition, I wanted the TD Ameritrade brokerage client, which I have. I wanted Kindle or Nook eBook support. The only thing missing that I very much wanted was to be able to make voice calls on it. Now that I own the Tab, I have to say, I think North American service providers have done us all a disservice by convincing Samsung to remove Voice services.
I think the Galaxy Tab is an ideal size. I owned two iPads and sold them when I switched from the iPhone 3GS to the HTC EVO. Around that time, I started to get very interested in the Galaxy Tab. Now that I have it, I have to say the size is perfect. It's so much more portable. I think a lot of people have forgotten one fact about the iPad. It's is awkwardly huge. Remember how everyone has to sit in such a way as to prop up the iPad in their lap? Or how you have to put it down on a flat surface to use it. It's not a device you can type an email on without putting it in your lap or on a surface. It's either two hands or no hands(on lap or surface). I still remember reading some fanboys where buying beanbag chairs so they could use their iPads more comfortably. It sounds silly, but those issues still exist.
The Galaxy Tab is more what a tablet is truly meant to be. It's meant to be a small device you can use while you're standing up. You hold it with one hand and operate it with the other. Or your cradle it with both hands and type with your thumbs.
Honestly, I would love it if it does support Android 2.3. However, what I love even more is that I can use the device right now, today. The apps I want are available right now, today. Remember, that when 2.3 does hit, some of the apps you rely on today might not work properly. What Samsung did by releasing this in the state they did is give to a mature platform from day one. I have yet to find an app that I needed that doesn't work well with this. That's more important to me than 2.3 or 3.0. Ideally, I'd like mature apps that work and 2.3 and 3.0.
I'd like to see a lot more accessories easily available.
