Galaxy Watch 4 bricking after update

Finally got Samsung to repair/replace GW4 at no charge with a 5 day turn-around. Sent watch to Samsung, then 2 days later got an email from them stating repair was on hold due to parts unavailable. WTH?
Called Samsung again and they are going to issue me a refund for the GW4.
Guess I’ll use the refund to get a GW5.

Sounds like a good plan. Glad they finally responded to you with a better answer than initially
 
So apparently this update is still going out, because it literally just happened to me. I'm currently wearing a paperweight. Smh.

reach out to Samsung...they are repairing watches that are bricked. this is a known issue. should be at no cost to you.

In the last week I've seen several reports on Reddit & Samsung Members app of the GW4's getting bricked on the GVI3. (It is interesting that the Samsung Members forum deletes these bricked watch posts as quick as they can). Anyway, Samsung supposedly discontinued this update a month ago. So why is it that there are so many that are updating the GVI3 recently? It almost seems like Samsung is doing this on purpose.

After all the games and denials Samsungs putting out to purposely fix as few GW4's as possible, and force as many folks as possible to buy a GW5 instead, it's just like Apples iPhone battery fiasco. I would personally NOT buy or trade up to a GW5 just to show them these bs tactics aren't gonna fly.

But then I already have a pretty low opinion of Sammy anyway because of how they operate, so the only thing I'll ever possibly be buying from them is the occasional Flip....until Google gets one perfected ;)
 
I just called Samsung my husband is asleep still. She said they know about it and he needs to send it in for repair. I said it won't turn on it's bricked how can you repair it? She wanted the serial number which we don't still have the box I don't think and the writing is coming off the bottom of the watch. She said it's in his wearable app and to call back with it when he wakes up. She said they will send me a shipping label UPS. It's Crazy!

He really doesn't do stuff on his watch though he mainly just wants to see the time he said. I am wondering if when we get our 23's instead of free earbuds which we won't need he can use the $200 towards a new one but they need to compensate him for this one and knock some more off the price. I wish I had gotten him the 5 pro when I got my regular 5 but mine was 85 his was still going to be over $200 and he didn't care about it liked his big bezel one.

Wow! Tha'ts great they told me this am I have to send it in for repair and when I called back a bit ago with the serial number I was told to take it to u break it we fix it or the Samsung Shop at Best Buy. I don't know
 
Mine bricked, chatted with Samsung and, despite the holidays, was replaced and back in my hands inside of 2 weeks, so I am happy withy the support they provided.

Well I hope u break it we fix it can fix it. I am going to try and drop it off today they said their would be no charge. Everytime I call noone answers.
 
I guess I'll call Samsung in the morning. If they offered to fix my husband's watch if we send it back in can we just send it back in and say fix it and keep it we want to trade it in on a 5. Cuz I thought I looked last night and I must have looked wrong I thought his watch was worth 180 but it's actually 240 he has the 4 classic and we only paid 200 for it.

So if you can get the 5 pro for 159 that's a good deal isn't it? But you think we can tell them to fix it and not send it back to us that we want to trade it in and get the 5 or will they send it back to us and tell us to wait and order and then send it back in again. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. Cuz if we have to wait a week or two for them to fix it may not be the same trade in price. But for 159 he said he'll go ahead and upgrade if he can.

There's about a week back order right now, but that's good for your situation. The titanium was the one on week back order, think the black is available when I ordered.

Send your watch 4 classic in to get fixed, it's a week turn around on average. That week turn around to get your watch 4 fixed will be about the same time the watch 5 gets here. On top of that you have 15 days to get your watch 4 trade in sent in. The tracking number has to be active in 15 days, not the trade in has to be in their hands. Keep that in mind, the tracking number has to go live within 15 days after you received the new watch. There is also a option to extend your trade in return in options when you contact Samsung, I don't know how that works. I wouldn't use that unless you have to.

You can order the watch 5 and get the watch 4 fixed all today. I would try to get the watch 4 sent in today so it makes the truck today also.

Thanks! I have Samsung on the phone now I mean it makes sense to send it in but them just fix it and keep it if we order the 5 pro. She says we can do that. I said can you email in writing or give me some kind of assurance that I am going to get $240 once it's fixed and she said hold on and than she just came back and said we might have to do 2 separate orders. U Break It We Fix it is by our house but I am not sure how long they would take and they don't answer their phone. She asked me to hold and said she will find out for sure but if she said If I turn it in today their is a 5 day turn around. And my husband has black now so he will probably want black. If we have to get it repaired and send it right back I guess we could but she is going to try to note our account and see if they can do it the way I want it. Oh well I just noticed for the black it says receive by 1/13 and the grey is 1/6 so we probably would be good if we had to get it fixed and than send it right back.

Yeah she said send it back in today it takes 5 days and then we have 15 days to send it back and she noted all this on my account and said they can extend the trade in in my case but it says get the watch by 1/13 so I think were good. It just sucks we have to send it in get it back send it in again but the price is too good for the pro I get 5% off through work so it's 143.99 after trade in we only paid $200 for his classic after trade in we're getting $240 so that's good I guess.

This is weird and it didn't dawn on me to ask but we trade in watches phones all the time and it is Fed-Ex which by the way just left from delivering a package LOL! She told me I will get a shipping label in my email within an hour. I did get an email about the repair with a ticket number I have to write in 3 spots on the box she said but she said put it in a box and take it to UPS. I forgot it's always been Fed-Ex so I am confused now. She said we should have it back in 5 days and I know it's the holiday weekend but as long as we get it back by next week we should be good to send it right back. That's our only choice so yes I will go ahead and order and state the trade in for the 240 and i get an extra 5% off so that's a pretty good deal. Thanks!
