Thanks Everyone! I emailed the Supervisor lady back hopefully I can go through her if not tech support gave me e-commerce phone number. It's so weird that I can't reset it now it keeps saying can't connect and when I retry and finally see the watch 7 in the list it goes through the whole set up over and over again so yes I am done. Never had tis much trouble with a Samsung product before.

Edit: Actually now it's on a screen on my phone about apps and I unchecked it so I dont get my old apps and now it's says automatic watch backup I think it may reset now oh gosh crazy after 8 tries. it said use smart switch I hit deny I want a fresh start now it's working that is so weird it's resetting and I didnt see it say restoring and I denied on smart switch so I guess it's a fresh start. I still need to return after trying all those resets it went from 77 to 41%. But I think it's a fresh start so I will charge it up again and set up some minor settings and wait for the supervisor lady to get back with me. It says my watch isn't being backed up because I already have a backup of the same watch of course I don't want to restore so replace it with a new back up will be fresh correct? And why did it say can't charge too hot is that a thing never seen it on a watch?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I thought resetting the watch and setting it up again from scratch was a good idea. But now, the reset is giving you issues. I'd suggest clearing the cash partition on the watch cause it sounds like something is stuck, but I don't know if the method is the same as on the watch 6.

If you can't get your watch to reset again then, I think you've done your due diligence & it's time to return it. I know that won't be any fun as you'll have to try to get Samsung to match your original price. I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for you

Again, so sorry you have to go through this.
How do you clear the cache I can't even get to my screen to do anything. And yes no fun to get them to price match cause it gave me my RSVP $50 and 20 from work discount and of course Rakuten was 12% now it's 10 but that's ok. I paid 49.99 I had 6 bucks in Samsung rewards also. But when I saw how it gave me that price 50 and work discount I hurried up and chose a band and bought it which when I realized I ordered the same band as the free one LOL! But my price was great they already have my 6 supervisor said they will still honor my 200 off. I don't know we will see. I hope she calls me back. Earlier she did right after my email.

I'm still going to check on returning tomorrow. When it says learning usage how long does that normally take on a watch I guess I'll see what it's on when I wake up.

But another quick question in the wearables app under setting and apps when I click on any app in the list it says background activity turned on how do you turn it off it's like grayed out? I did close apps I didn't want to get notifications on but I was somewhere else and it showed apps running in the background like diagnostics and some other stuff.

Sorry, I was out to dinner.

Just for reference, here is how to clear the cache partition.

This worked fine on my Watch 6 Classic, but I can't say if Samsung changed the procedure on the Watch 7.

(credit for the procedure goes to member Original-Material301 from Reddit)

((I changed up some of their wording & added a few of my own to make it clearer for myself, then added the bullets))
___________

For Watch 6 Worn on Left Wrist.

On your watch:

•Hold down both side buttons (home and back), until the watch turns off (about 6 seconds).

•Immediately start clicking the home (top) button until the bootloader menu appears.

•Use the home (top) button to select "recovery mode", then hold the home (top) button until the watch face goes black (about 2 seconds). It will boot into recovery mode menu.

•Use the back (bottom) button to highlight "wipe cache partition". (Careful, don't select anything else)

•Tap the home (top) button (top) to select. Use back (bottom) button to highlight "yes" and use home (top) button to select it (confirm).

•After the wipe, it should return you to the recovery mode menu with the first item "reboot system now" highlighted.

•Tap the home (top) button to restart the watch.
_____

I'm not sure how you can stop an app running in the background if the option is greyed out. If it's a system app, there might not be a way.

It's hard to suggest what to do with your backup until you know if the fresh install helped. You might want the old backup if it's not the problem & it's just the watch is defective. If this fresh setup works then I'd replace the old backup.

Thanks but I don't know if I should still try this or not. I'm already on a fresh setup I think it's still draining I'm going to give it to tomorrow. I'll probably just get a new one or try to. I said I left the old backup but I think I just got rid of it and let it back up the fresh start and I remember most of my settings at home screens I just might lose a few watch faces but that's okay. I was hoping it was a watch face that just couldn't handle the new OS and one UI and maybe it was causing a conflict I don't know.

But they still say give it a day to learn your usage so I'm going to wait it out and I'll call to return it tomorrow afternoon. I can't remember where I was in the settings where it showed apps and said running in background and you couldn't turn the toggle off and it wasn't all system apps I don't know. But thanks for your help I mean even though I did a fresh restart do you think doing the cache so do anything should I try? I mean it won't make anything worse will it. Why do you people on the form no more than the tech support from Samsung lol

It would be nice if Samsung had a selective watch backup so you could pick & choose what to restore, but it's all or nothing.

Don't bother with the cache partition. All those resets should have cleared everything.

If it was me, I'd rather return the watch and start fresh with a new one. If your current one improves for a while but takes a turn for the worse down the line, it may be more difficult to get the replacement or even be out of warranty. It sounds defective. You would think they'd just replace it free of charge. It's not like you're returning it cause you don't like the color.

Having the battery drain so fast & hit zero can't be good for its longevity, even if things do improve after this last reset. You shouldn't have to work this hard on a brand new device.

I hope you're able to get it returned with the least amount of stress.
🤞

I'm so mad I figured no reason for cache clear if I reset again. And I don't care that I lost my previous backup I can start fresh. I took a screen shot of each screen on my watch so I would remember how I had my tiles set up and I can deal with losing a few watch faces. I had a couple cool ones from Facer but they may not of worked with the new OS and One UI I don't know. But I just got off the phone with e-commerce and I was on hold twice got hung up the third time I got help and not disconnected. But yeah I woke up to a dead turned off watch it's defective.

So now I re-ordered price came out to $40 more which is weird I thought it would be $50 and Rakuten will take back their $6 when I return defective watch but I will get $9.60 from this transaction. And I forgot to ask the e-commerce lady about that I used $6.24 in rewards from Samsung. But now you get another free fabric band in green which I don't care for that color but the one I wanted blue and white no small. This supervisor lady was supposed to be sending m e a promo code to get the cream sport band I originally wanted cause I ordered wrong but I ordered it now and 1st it said 8/21 and then it changed to 7/31 when I deleted it from cart and re-added it cause I forgot my work discount which was $10.

So now I am good and pretty happy. As long as my watch 6 gets approved they have it than it will go towards this one and she claims once I get new watch I will get the $50 credit since I RSVP'D before. So yeah lets hope it all works out and I am convinced my watch is defective now and will start fresh on the new one. My return label says by 8/12 my order online said 8/3 but I just want to use this for a day or two until I get the new one while I am at work. And also once they get the defective one I just realized they also owe me credit of what I paid for it 45 bucks plus the $50 RSVP she said I'll get. What a mess our credit card is going to have so many charges and credits cause I cancelled an re-ordered buds for him cause of color and cancelled mine cause the price came out better. It's Crazy! But thanks everyone

Keep us updated! It's disappointing that Samsung makes it so difficult. You did everything you possibly could have tried.
I know but if they honor the $50 RSVP and claim that my old watch is good cause you know how that goes. Once before I sent in an Active 2 and they sent me back a picture of a different watch which I got it straightened out but it's a hassle they do that on trade-ins. And they need to credit me what I paid on the defective returning one so we'll see by the end of the week. New one coming Wednesday. Now I'm just waiting on my buds Pro3 also. My husband got the buds no watch and his got received but waiting on approval also.

Now you're just testing your comedian talents. Stress free with Samsung customer service, you would fill the auditorium with laughter with that joke.
And you know we always went to Best Buy back in the HTC days cause of trading in was so much more convenient. But then Samsung started having better deals with the RSVPS and extra accessory credits so we use Samsung now.

I a few people on the Samsung Community were complaining about battery drain one guy in particular with an Ultra LTE he started the thread. Than I came across this article below. I saw an article today about an update out I wonder if this is it. My new watch should be here tomorrow anyway and I'm still returning. I'm still waiting on the approval of my watch 6 they've had it for a few days.

So far it's for regular 7 and hopefully it will roll out to the ultra. So far my battery has been good at 2 days plus, better battery efficiency would be great.

Keep us updated! It's disappointing that Samsung makes it so difficult. You did everything you possibly could have tried.
Here's my update, I was waiting a couple days. 1st watch charging twice a day draining so fast coming home from work on like 8-16% I would charge it enough to wear it to bed and one night at 48% it was dead in the morning. Another I think it was on 80 and died. Every time I turned on my watch the number dropped a lot and I know now their is an update coming and they no it's a problem which is good. But they don't do even exchanges and I had to re-buy and my watch 6 is deferred his buds got accepted. I guess their waiting to get old watch back before they approve. I hope that's the case. And my $200 needs to go to new watch with them honoring my $50 RSVP. And they left my band that I picked out yesterday so I have 2 promo codes for bands and they are out of them all pratically. I ordered the cream sports band to try but now they have the fabric in a wine color I want it and my pink and the pink and white one again. These fabric bands fit me great I love the velcro.

Anyway on to the new watch it came wednesday this happened several times like 8 when trying to reset my defective one to start fresh it kept not connecting and going through setup over and well the new one did the same thing but only 1 time and then said I was starting fresh it even showed like 3 back ups I chose not to of course 1st day watch did ok came home to maybe 60 something not 8 or 16% like before and I would have to charge it twice and even at 48% and 80% it died over night. New one yesterday was real low not dead but it was ok I needed to give 1-2 more days. But I could already tell while at work it wasn't draining like the old one. Last night I came home to I wanna say 75% and it goes into sleep mode from 1:30-9:30 and I woke up with 49% which is what my old watch would be on my 6.. It would be about 40 or 45. I guess when my phone alarm goes off it vibrates on my watch not sure if it did that before but yesterday, I snoozed my phone alarm for an hour and am thinking all that vibrating on my watch maybe it drained more cause it was on 10% yesterday today 49 but who knows. I have a good working watch now and that is all I care about. so now I can configure it the way I want. And I'm headed to Fed-Ex shortly to return old one,

It's encouraging that the new watch battery is not draining the same as on your first watch. The Watch 7 update to help fix the battery issue is starting arrive in the U.S. so hopefully, you'll have it soon.
I turned off the vibration on my Watch 6 Classic & that did improve my battery life for me. (So many notifications, alarms & reminders.)

I know I don't remember my old watch vibrating every time my alarm went off I guess I don't need it. I do like some notifications to vibrate though while I am at work if a phone call. But I had 40% left on my watch and probably would of gotten 3 to 4 more hours maybe longer but I am going out tonight and went ahead and charged it before I took a shower. But I'm glad it's better. Sucks that I have 2 promo codes for watch bands and none are in stock in my small size.

Now I can't wait till 8/14 when I guet my buds pro 3 hubby has his and likes them . I've made so many trips to Fed-Ex lately and when I took my watch 6 in forgot his buds he was trading in. And I have a pair for trade.

Did anyone get this band with their watch? It's called Athleisure. Can't tell what material is it and I like that color just not sure how it will fit. Since they are out of the fabric ones I want I thought I would try this one for 69.99 since I have a promo of 49.99 and Rakuten is only 3% now I thought it was 10%. But now my pink and white fabric that I had to return just shows in stock it didn't earlier. 1722631419140.png

If you have the Ultra, you need the adapter. I saw the ultra band adapter on Amazon. It will let you use the regular watch band on the Ultra.
