Galaxy watch Battery life

If you found a battery monitor app it would probably use more battery than not having it anywhere, most of them do.
I took mine of the charger at 6am and it's now 7.25pm and I have 55% left.
Heart rate monitor is set to always, AOD is on, bluetooth on, wifi on... NFC and GPS off

Thanks for your comments Ken and Hansen,

I looked at SHealth and it was consuming almost half of my power, I also had Location Information on, though I have no idea exactly what this does - I find some of the settings don't explain themselves very well - you have to google everything as the info in the watch and its effects on function vs power are not described at all.

I will see how the changes take affect. I have looked for a battery power app, similar to the ones you can get on the phone that show real time power consumption, but can't find such an app for Tizen, it would be useful to be able to see the affects of changing each option on power consumption so that we can decide if we consider the power usage worth the functionality - this would be a nice project.

What apps have you downloaded

I've had mine about a week and my battery use is about 20-25% per day. That's with a morning workout of about an hour being tracked and then normal use the rest of the day checking messages and responding to a few on the actual watch. I check weather, calendar and reminders a few times as well.

I was very happy with my Gear S3 and I'm even more happy with the Galaxy Watch. It's not a huge upgrade but I get a little more battery life from the new one.

BTW, I don't use always on display, but I have not turned anything else off.

To give perspective to everyone you have to detail your settings and typical usage. We all use and setup the watch differently. I have the 46mm LTE (TMobile) Version. I get a little over 2 days usage. My average drain is about 1.7% per hour. That's the average over 2 days. Typically put on charger when down to 10% left.

My Settings/Usage:
AOD: On
Watchface: builtin Tomcat or Frontier
WIFI: On
LTE: Auto
NFC: On
Tilt to wake: Off
Location: On
Bluetooth: On
Brightness: 7
HRM: Every 10 minutes
Text: Read and quick respond to 20+ text a day
Email: Read 40+ per day
LTE usage: Typically leave phone on desk during meetings and watch goes into LTE mode for 2 hours a day.
Weather: Check a few times a day
Workout: Daily 3 mile GPS enable run
Sleep: Put in night mode each night (6 hour sleep lose about 3% battery)

I downloaded many apps, including watchmaker - however, the power usage screen didn't attribute anything of any significance to the apps <1%.

I pretty much turned everything off, only on Bluetooth and standard dark original Samsung watch face, receiving a small set of notifications, perhaps 15 for the day, location off, wifi off, bixby off, tilt to wake on, brightness 5, HRM every 10 min, NFC off, , - and still it drained 10% over night and by 24 hours I was down to 50%, work out detection off. With the above it had lost all health monitoring, so the watch was being used for just a few notifications.

I was so tired of seeing how everyone was achieving pretty good numbers, so decided to do a factory reset last night. This morning I had only consumed 3% - this is more inline with what others are achieving. I will monitor the situation, hopefully whatever was wrong with th ewatch is now fixed....

Maybe try this time without downloading a bunch of apps. Only app I have downloaded is the Samsung timer, weird that wasn't a default app.

Any current smart watch user have any comments/thought's on battery life?

Lived up to expectations? Let down? Tips on battery life.

Battery life not greatest I turned off auto wifi that made a difference but I train 5 days a week so it usually lasts about two plus days that's not using the phone on the watch very often as well, feel a bit let down......!

I am still playing with the watch, but so far battery life has been decent. I just got the watch on Monday and playing and downloading and configuring, I was able to get 2.5 days before the battery was at 12%. Put into power saving mode and it lasted until I went to bed. I have gotten more used to the watch and have been doing more tinkering and it looks like I will get 2 days of battery life this go-round (about 40% used yesterday and have 56% as I type this, which works for me. I charge it while I sleep anyway.

I don't wear it when I sleep. I work out 5 days a week. I have been transferring music and playing from the watch just because but I don't plan to use that much but I do use the watch to advance or rewind songs played from my phone. I messed around with the navigation app some, check the weather, get notifications for Outlook (work), text, personal email, and facebook. Always on is in use, BT and wifi on auto, NFC is off. I think once I calm down on the "wow I have a new toy" phase, I will get 3 solid days, pushing 4 at times even. And that works for me. Heck, even a day is fine really. I charge my devices at night anyway so in my case, all good.

Loving this thing!

okay this is my first smart watch real smartwatch. My day basically consists of having nothing on but notifications having the screen turned off unless I touch the bezel or one of the buttons. Location is off NFC is off only Bluetooth is on. I run for 1 hour one of the two days using the running app. That's all I do I'm now not playing with the watch and have it set like I want. Now i love the watch but 4 days no way by the end of the second day it's on charge so I can wear it before bed. ohh when I sleep it's put in night time mode. Now I don't know if that's good or bad for a SW but it's best I can get out of it

I'm on LTE always, Wifi/BT/GPS/NFC off, AOD on with 7% brightness and I'm getting about a day. Is this good?

Hi all, I've got mine (46mm BT) almost two weeks ago (Sep 10) and this is my experience:

I turned off NFC and Location as I always use the phone's GPS
At the first days I saw the 4 days battery calculation at the wearable samsung app
but then I installed the watchmaker companion app as I love watchmaker watch faces (from my old motorola 360), and noticed the battery consumption got higher.
I used 25% battery after 12 hours of normal notifications use. So I decided to uninstall watchmaker, as it showed only 2 days battery life. (compared to the 4 days at the beginning)

I also uninstalled samsung flow as it showed battery usage as I don't use it.

I also was trying the good night mode, somebody could not find the differences, in theater mode alarms not work.
I dont know why good night mode can only be activated using the phone, as only don't disturb and theater modes are available from the watch.

I will continue to keep monitoring battery life and maybe I will do a factory reset to see if this improves after all the settings changes. I think samsung health is the most battery hungry app.

Cheers!

Actually, good night mode is available on the watch.
Swipe down to get to the toggle screen, long press on one of them, press the minus on the one you don't need, press the plus on the now empty position and choose the good night mode.

wow thank you! this is the best tip for the Galaxy Watch

I'm getting a single day. AOD, 7 brightness, GPS always on and LTE always on. No BT or Wifi. Is this good?

How do you turn off Bixby? It keeps waking up on its own...

The battery life is superior to my gear s3. I usually charge my s3 at night and put it back on before I go to bed. In the morning I am usually at 85% and by the evening when I get back home in the 50-60s range. With the Galaxy watch I've been waking up with 96% as the lowest and it hasn't dipped below 80%. Anytime I take a shower I put my watch to charge so battery life is not a problem. But on a weekend trip it will be great to not have to charge it during the trip.

I kept reading how AlwaysOn killed a day of battery when it was in use. I got 2 solid days already and could really go almost 2.5 with AlwaysOn display so I turned it off for 2 weeks and turned on gestures to turn the display on to see what the difference would be. I now get 3.5-4 days of use between charges. That is incredible! I do miss it sometimes, but for the most part, not a huge deal if I want to go further between charges.

My watch will last almost 3 days on a charge. I have the aod turned off, but the auto heart rate is on. A huge improvement over my gear s3.
