AC Question

Hi

I have a Samsung Galaxy Young2 SM-G130HN and would like to update it from 4.4.4 to the latest version. When I go to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for updates it says I have the latest version installed. I would like to update it to the latest version without rooting it. Is this possible?

Welcome to Android Central. Unless an update was made for your model you wouldn't be able to update even if rooted. Older devices are dropped from the update cycle.

1. You already have the latest version that Samsung provided for that phone.

2. If you root the phone, you can't update it even if there's an update available. Never root a phone you're planning on updating, unless you can revert to the unrooted version of Android first.

@GI - never had that happen in any version of Android. Reflashing the ROM will, but an OTA update shouldn't. (But it's still a good idea to do a full backup before allowing an update. It's a good idea to have a current update all the time.)
