Hello,

I've never had this problem before on my Galaxy S8 I have it since launch for some reason it starts loading up cash a folders and other folders that apps use (like images for a game for example or a cache folder for an app)

is there anyway I can get Gallery back to normal? I think this started happening after "Norton Clean, junk removal" app scanned my folders OR vlc player scanned for media

Any help is appreciated

An app that stores pictures for its own use should create a folder for them and save a file named .nomedia (leading dot) in that folder. That tlls the system "don't look here for pictures or sounds". Evidently you installed an app or game that doesn't do that, so you see all its pictures. You'd have to root the phone and find that folder, then create your own .nomedia file in it. (The file can have anything or nothing in it - it's the name that matters.)

Or you can look at the pictures and determine which app or game it is, then email the developer and ask him to please update the app or game to include a .nomedia file in the folder in which it's storing pictures.

I already factory reset my phone so the problem is gone, but I dont think you understood what happened so that if this happens again me or someone else could fix the problem.

The folders was always in my phone, games I had since the launch of the S8 (no recent updates no changes) and the gallery just started picking them up (it never did this since I got the phone)

It's not the developers fault or anything it has to do with either VLC or that Cache cleaner Norton app I installed. I know the VLC app was scanning for folders and that Norton app so for some odd reason the gallery app right after started picking up those folders.

Now that I'm thinking of it maybe one of those apps Deleted the .nomedia files and that's why the files from those apps started showing.

never installing a app cleaner again

I think you're right -- something must have deleted the .nomedia files. I wonder if it was set to search for hidden files (i.e., ones with a leading period) and delete them for some reason? Or, the cleaner app might have cleared out that whole directory, and when the app that created that directory started adding more cached images, it didn't bother to re-add a .nomedia file.
