Game plan for purchase since there is no pre-order...

My game plan is easy. Been going to the local V store for the past month driving the sales people crazy with arcane phone questions that they can't answer and also playing with all the phones. I figure if I promise to stop driving them crazy, they will save one for me.

LOL That, or they'll hide them all when they see you coming just to make sure the crazy guy that keeps pestering them doesn't get one.
I used to work in retail, you'd be surprised how many times stuff like that happened. I always find it better to be kind and engaging with the worker bees to get better treatment. Even going so far as to not correct them when they're clueless/wrong on things.

I think it's a decent amount. Let's keep in mind that was on September 2nd, it's now the 6th and won't launch till the 8th. I hope they have increased the supply. I'm sure 100,000 is enough for launch day, I know I'm ordering it online as soon as it pops up on early Thursday morning and have it on Friday, just like I did my X. That amount is for online orders, so unless 25,000ish people in each region order it the first day there shouldn't be a delay....hopefully. I can't remember how many X's they had on launch day but I know they sold out the first day (however, the X was offered to anyone who hadn't upgraded in the last 12 months to compete with AT&T's I*hone promotion, so maybe there will not be as many people trying to upgrade at the same time). I just want my phone! I am in Boone, NC (Appalachian State University) instead of being home in Charlotte so they don't have any "official" corporate Verizon stores here and I don't wanna deal with the hassle of trying to upgrade at an authorized retailer. so VZW.com it is for me.

What bothers me though...is on Verizon's website, if you want to order a D3, the promised ship date is 9/8 and has been for quite a while; you'd think it wouldn't take them that long to restock?

The D3 is also on BOGO so that's also why they could be selling so well. I hope Moto did their homework and produced enough Bionics to meet demand.

I think in the past having a short supply has worked really well for Verizon and the phone manufaturer, it creates hype and fear of loss in the consumer. I remember with the incredible supply was almost none existent, people lined up for months for it.

I think the best chance is get the phone at release, that way you won't have to waits months for the bionic.
