Gave up on fingerprint system

I had to show my wife to tap her finger from different angles when setting up. Now it never fails for her. I never had an issue though

Have others had trouble with the finger print system? I found moderately unreliable. Once when it did not work, it locked up my phone for a while. That would have been a big problem in an emergency. So I deleted it.

I've maybe had it not read my finger 2 times since release day. You must have a faulty unit.

I have to say that it works perfect for me also. I added both pointer fingers so I can quickly grab and unlock my phone with either hand. It only has trouble if I washed my hands and my fingers are damp. In which case it unlocks through my face

Thanks for the feedback. A while back when I got fingerprinted for a license, they had trouble getting good (digital) prints from me. So it may be that I just don't have very prominent finger prints. I may give it another try with Jeremy's suggestion.

If that doesn't work, and if the failure is pretty consistent (something you can replicate pretty quickly rather than just once in a while), maybe try having a friend or family member set up a fingerprint and see if they are able to replicate the problem. If they can, it's likely a faulty sensor; if not, it may be some characteristic of your fingers.

Not only does my sensor work great, it'll even read my print through a ziplock bag. Far superior to the sensor on my S5, which I was constantly having to reprogram.

Agree with retraining it at different angles and using 2-3 attempts with the same finger and then 2-3 with that finger on the other hand.

The FP reader on Pixel is the best I've seen. With that said, the horrible dry skin on my hands sometimes thwarts the reader's best attempts. I treat the skin on my hands, but I don't think they reliably present a recognizable pattern to read.
