Gave up Revolution for Droid Charge - Please Read!

Ummmmm....yeah if I feel like telling people to not get this phone after MY experience, then I will absolutely exercise that right.

Besides, to play on your sentiment -- you have had good luck with your phone and could very well be one of the "3 in 100" people who are praising the phone and have had good luck.

With that I am going to officially leave this forum as I am no longer a "member"! I do wish everyone good luck with their phones as it is always nice to have pieces of technology that make our lives easier.

Take care!

Good luck, personally if i was anyone on this forum looking to get the Rev, I wouldnt base my decision on 3 to 10 people (not actual stats lol) out of the 100s that have had problems, id go with the 100

The opening post definitely had a bad phone. We got the Revolution for my wife and she said the call quality is excellent.

And we looked at the Charge even though I had some experience with the Charge (not just in the store) and she still liked the Revolution. Its build quality is much better than the Charge, yet it's lighter than the Thunderbolt.

And as weird as it may seem, she picked the Revolution because the proximity sensor is on the opposite side as her Droid and the Charge. Her Droid screen kept lighting up when she would hold her phone with her shoulder and she would keep muting the call with her face because of the screen lighting up. So since the proximity sensor on the Revolution is on the opposite side, we're thinking it will cut down on that.

Well Panerai, I'm sorry you don't believe my statement on what the Verizon rep said but it is true. I mean we are taking about cell phones -- not testifying before Congress. I have no reason to lie and THAT is what was said.

I don't mind a difference of opinion but don't infer that I am liar. Cheers.

I believe you. I've been told that about a brand/phone a couple times before and I used to work for Sprint/T-Mobile from 1999-2004 (retail stores) and have told customer when there is a crappy phone or product. I'm not going to sell someone I think is ****, I don't care who writes my checks, I have a moral obligation to advise the customers that are making a purchase from me.

I just switched from the Thunderbolt to the LG Revo. I got the Thunderbolt on the first day it was released in the VZ store when I switched from my Droid Incredible. I loved the Incredible but wanted 4G. Until the recent software update, the Thunderbolt was fine, for the most part. While there had been glitches there was nothing that really stood out as awful. I had to have the Thunderbolt switched out twice and it appears the problem may be network related (my guess) and not specific to the phone. Though, since receiving my Revo I'm second guessing my network theory. Thus far, the Revo has been great. Its reaction time is a tad slower than the HTC and the interface requires a little getting used to (I really like HTC Sense) but I find it completely unacceptable to be unable to update or download apps. When I have to do a factory reset 15 times in 3 days it's time for a change. I thought about the Charge but there were WAY TOO MANY MORE complaints about that. Having a pretty screen just isn't that important to me. A couple of nice features the Revo has over the Thunderbolt are the ability to stream Netflix and the HDMI port. I?m not a fan of the covered power port but I like its location better. I will ABSOLUTELY miss the kickstand. That is such a great hands free feature. Other than that the most noticeable difference for me is the UI and the way you access your applications. The main home screen has built-in icons that are a touch too large. I hope I can find a way to change them out or eliminate them altogether. I also noticed I do not hear navigation instructions on my bluetooth speaker while talking on the phone. That is a great HTC feature I've taken for granted that I figured would be on ANY phone. I've had good experiences with LG in the past so I'm a little confused that a VZ rep would bag their historic quality. Maybe they've had a few bad phones in recent years. I hope the Revo isn't one of them.

I had a Charge before the Revolution, I will say the Charge had a better screen, and a little better battery life, but the build quality of the whole device felt meh and the interface just wasnt as good an experience as the LG Revo. I didnt experience paint peeling off the Charge, but the back battery cover got lots of little surface scatches, like the old ipods would, and i hated that...

After owning all 3 of the 4G's on the menu, I am happiest with the Revo.
Charge had poor call quality, which is sad because I am, or was, a Samsung fan.
The two TB's I had could't make calls at all.
But the Revo just worked out of the box, no fuss no muss. My only complaint with calls is the speaker volume is still a little quiet but its clear and static free.

Yeah, I noticed its not a loud phone. Its a battery sucker, but I knew that going in. I don't often need long bat life and I turn off the locators and such to save. Otherwise, its been a pleasure so far.
