OP3/3.2.8/not rooted. I found an interesting anomaly tonight. If I get a text and try to respond from the lock screen, I cannot swype in SwiftKey, but I can type. On GBoard, I can either swype or type. When the screen is not locked, SwiftKey swype works normally.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I have experienced had this before.

I swapped back to the OP launcher and no change. So I'm back to GBoard. Not having swype is a pain.

I would switch back Gboard but Gboard does not have arrow keys on the bottom on the keyboard.... If only Gboard had arrow keys.

You can't swipe with SwiftKey from the lockscreen. Nothing wrong on your end. The app doesn't allow this since Lollipop came out because of some changes Google made in the lockscreen that made it impossible for them to implement it. They won't fix it because they say they need to 'rebuild the app from the ground up'. Every time a user asks about it they say they have no intentions to addressing the issue.

Ever since Gboard came out I couldn't be happier. It has everything I loved about SwiftKey: multilanguage, number row, dictionary sync (except the arrow keys) plus I can swipe in lockscreen (a MUST in Android 7 and its reply from the notification feature). It's also far more accurate when swiping in both Spanish and English.

I was a big fan of the arrow keys for cursor control too, but Gboard's swipe in spacebar feature works great for me. I was inserting spaces at first as well, but you get used to it over time and learn to use it properly. Also, the gesture in the back key for deleting is big plus.

After 4 years using SwiftKey, I can say that I won't be going back.

That is crappy compared to the arrow keys. I tried that and I kept putting extra spaces on my text/words

Change your key long press delay. I have mine set to 350ms and the space bar works great to reposition the cursor for me. I haven't experimented that much, so 350 may not be optimal.

Global keyboard settings/preferences/key long press delay. Touch the space bar and immediately move your finger left or right to move the cursor.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for this information. So long SwiftKey!

You can scroll through text by swiping on the space bar. Have you tried that? It works flawlessly for me.

Yep, agree, it took me some time to finally get it right, but now is so much easier than having arrows, I was considering going back to SwiftKey due to this specific reason, but Google's solution has worked fantastic for me.

Keep in mind, it may also take you a while to get it right especially when you have been using SwiftKey for a long time, but I forced myself to, didn't want to have two keyboards on my Nexus 6.

I tried to like Gboard... I couldn't. I turn off all notifications on my lock screen because I prefer to use my lock screen as a method of locking people *out* of my phone. I guess I'm too private of a person to see the benefit of interacting with my phone via the lock screen...

I'm back to SwiftKey. I have arrow keys and a number row in my keyboard.
