Hey guys,
I'm an Android dev from Vancouver, and I just wanted to share with you an app I created for the Samsung Challenge. The app is called "Budgit" and it helps you track your spendings. You can add all kinds of different types of expenses as well as savings (like paycheck, etc) and you can edit the date on which the spendings/savings happened. You can see how much money you have left to spend for the month as well as a pie chart of your spendings by category and a detailed history.
This app runs standalone on the Gear, but I am in the progress of creating an Android companion app and will later integrate this with cloud services. You can search "Budgit" on the Gear Manager Store and find it on Facebook and Twitter under the budgitApp username.
Tell me what you think!
Does not appear in Gear Manager when I use the search feature and am not about to scroll through every program.
I am learning that different phones have different capabilities in the store and it may even be influenced by provider.
Example:
When I bought my AT&T S5 Active, I could only see 2 apps in the LifeStyle Category of the Gear Manager.
But my wifes generic S5 (same provider), could see plenty of apps.
Why would Samsung be blocking apps for the S5 Active? Beats me...
I would assume that if the app is available for your model/device that you could be able to search for it and find it, but for whatever reason, that is untrue on my AT&T S5.
But note, in order for me to get all of the Apps available onto my S5 Active, I had to reimage my phone to the stock rom, towelroot it, disable updates (to preserve root), and edit my build.prop (ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G870A to ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A) to think its a regular S5.
Perhaps in doing so, I blocked myself from a phone update that would allow me to search for that particular app.
Another thing to mention, is that someone with an Galaxy Note 3 is telling me that they don't even have a search function.
My point is, it would probably be wise to not assume that we are all getting the same behavior from the Gear Manager. Samsung has their claws in it and seems to be controlling what devices get access to different applications even though we are all using the same GEARS. Makes no sense to me.
Do not make the mistake of assuming that we are all on the same page. We are not.
So, you should ALWAYS tell people exactly where to find it. In Productivity perhaps??
Just trying to help.
