Gear S - New Activation blocked on Verizon?

My beloved Gear S met a untimely death via a fall from a 10 ft ladder on to concrete.

So I picked one up off eBay.

Went to activate it and got the dreaded, "Your device is too old to be activated on the Verizon Network and no longer supported" message.

Any way around this? (I have 2 other sammy watches and they suck)

must be 3g. nothing you can do.

So why did the old one continue to work? And they sure are continuing to bill for it as well.,

I would contact Veri$on and ask a good tech support person help. I have 4 different Samsung watches on a S10e (newest release) and they all work just fine on T-Mobile. I'm not being billed by T-Mobile for anything related to them. I think I had insurance on the Gears S2 classic one point.
