Gear S2 doesn't work properly with Google Messenger

Is there any way to fix this? A couple months ago I could read, respond and view a conversation all on the S2 itself. Now I can only read the notifications. When I try and do anything else to interact with the notification it just gives the checkmark and says "Check your phone".

I've never been able to do this. I actually downloaded messenger a few weeks ago again to see if anything changed and it was still the same. Not sure that there is a fix but look around bc Ive seen multiple threads about this.

When I first set up Google Messenger with Gear S2 I had similar problems and I would just go into the Samsung Gear app on the phone, uncheck Google Messenger from notifications, save it then go back, recheck and save. It's been working flawlessly for me for a couple of months now.

So u unchecked and then checked it back in the notification settings in gear manager? Did u happen to uncheck the stock sms messenger? I never thought about that.

Yes. Since I never used the stock messenger I always made sure it was unchecked.
