I have a Gear S2 and am seriously considering getting the S3 Frontier. Does anyone know how the health data, steps, heart rate, sleep, etc...would work if I use both devices?

I'm thinking I would use the Frontier most of the time but when I'm working out or doing yardwork, I would use the S2 so that I don't beat the snot out of the Frontier....

You can only have one active at a time. I have two S2's and changing them is a pita. Just a caution what you want to do may be more work than you think it will be.

Frontier is made for rugged use, I wouldn't be worried about it. I wear mine for everything workouts, long distance cycling, and yardwork like you've mentioned mowing etc

If you keep both watches powered on, it only takes a moment to select one or the other watch in the Gear manager. It only takes a few seconds.

My plan was to keep one off while the other was on. Do I have to keep both on at the same time?

The reason I'd want to switch between the 2 is my S2 is the 3G version and I was just going to get the Bluetooth version of the Frontier because I'm tired of waiting for updates from Verizon on my S2.
