general root 2.1 ? not how to!

If I root my x in 2.1, will it still be rooted in 2.2 or will it need to be rooted again.

are you going to use the leaked 2.2 or are you talking about the OTA?

leaked: you need to move the su to xbin (there are many tutorials around on the internet, even in these forums)

OTA: probably will lose root and will have to wait for a new method if the exploit used for the current D2 / Dx root is closed.
