Does anyone know of any cheap USB cables that have been verified to both charge and sync data on the Captivate? I have several cables from an old Nexus One but they don't sync data -- only the Samsung branded cable will do that for me.
Thanks

Not true. I have two cables plugged in, one will sync and charge, the other will only charge.

The one that works is from a BlackBerry. No part number, but it should be easy to get from any AT&T store.

The one that only charges is a CablesToGo, model # 27365. The package even says, "Supports Data Transfer and Power" but they lie.

I bought a bunch from monoprice. Generic .99c micro usb cables. Data sync is fine, charge is fine.

I got a Samsung OEM USB cable on Amazon that was cheap (<$6 incl shipping), and works fine. It is a little short (32" long), but no problem if your computer is nearby.

Here is the link:

Amazon.com: Samsung Replacement USB Data Charging Cable for Samsung SPH-M330, SCH-R100, SGH-T939, SCH-R850: Cell Phones & Service

I also got a Samsung OEM car charger, for less than $8 incl shipping from Amazon at :

Amazon.com: Samsung CAD300UBEB/STD Standard Car Power Charger: Cell Phones & Service

With prices like these, no need to look for cheap noname brand cables. Finally an OEM manufacturer not gouging us for accessory cables. Thanks Samsung!

Me too. Paying any more than that is nonsense. But on some cables, you may have to trim the thick surround on the tip so it can stay firmly attached to the captivate. the oem cable has a very low profile because of this. easy mod though. just trim a little off. if you mess up, the cables are only .99
