Get the Note 8 or wait for the Note 9?

Definitely dont want it any taller. A bit wider would be ideal
I second this for sure, half the reason I bought the note 8 over the s8+ was width. The other half was the precision SPen, and then the other half was the dual optically stabilized cameras.

I have the Note 4 right now and it's working well enough that I'm debating whether I should wait for the Note 9 or just get the Note 8 and sell it when the 9 comes out. What should I do?
I just switched back to my note edge for a couple days recently (just for kicks, man that textured back and wide screen is the bomb) and if your note 4 is serving your needs than I believe you should wait. Sure devices are always getting better but the note 9 is looking as great as a note 8 but with 2 significant potential upgrades: under glass fingerprint scanning, and semi-stereo speakers. (like htc u11 or iPhone)

Worst case scenario? Note 9 having catastrophic failures? Just go in swappa and find a nice condition note 8 for half of retail price. You really can't lose either way. Just my two cents

The note 8 by far the best device to date it puts the iphone X to shame. The only other device that may compare is the pixel 2.

I do not see either of the possible note 9 upgrades any big deal. I hope that is all there is since this would have me keep my Note 8 and not upgrade.

Which upgrades are you referring to?

Very little money would be wasted as I'd sell the 8 and use it towards the 9.

Lol don't plan on getting much for that note 8. Android phones don't hold their value at all. I think most places give $200 for it and you could probably only get like $400 from Swappa or eBay. And I refuse to deal with either of those.

You can usually get pretty good trade in deals from Samsung or the carriers. I got 475$ each for a Note 5 and s7 edge towards two Note 8's. Pretty much got one for free. Half off is a good deal

LOL... i feel soo out of this conversation right now. I've been using My precious Note 2 and i'm planning to upgrade to the N9 after it is realesed.
Can wait for 8 more months as i've already used this for over 5 years with just a battery change.
BTW will N9 be 5G enabed ?

I ended up picking up a used S8 a few weeks ago. This thing flies compared to the Note 4.

If he's comparing it to a Note 4 then they are pretty close in screen size. (5.7 vs 5.8 S8)
Somewhat but the Note 4 would feel wider I'm sure, with the flatter screen. Still a great upgrade;)

Maybe for battery life but I don't think there will be a big difference between the two devices. The new fingerprint sensor location is better than the 8 but is it worth the money to upgrade for a few changes I guess it's a personal reason to make the upgrade.

Although I'm not upgrading to Note 9, I have to say it's the most awesome complete phone now.

If I had to choose between Note 8 and 9, I will take the 9 despite the big price difference compared to getting a 8 now.

I'd get the note 9 if you can swallow the price but if you can't the Note 8 is still a really good phone ( trust me I own one). Also the note 9 will not have 5G. We won't see that till maybe later next year or 2020
