Get unlimited data on ungrandfathered lines!

I created a quick account just to post this, just called Verizon 5 times and on the 5th time instead of saying I wanted the 4G MHS, which failed the last 4 times, I just gave her the feature number and bam! It worked, checked my account a minute later with excitement and there it was, unlimited data. XD

Awesome!

I am on my fourth billing cycle with unlimited data.

Just did this a few minutes ago following gizmodo steps and the first rep set it up " Did 4G method" within a minute. Got off the phone and rebooted and then went online to my account and is now showing unlimited. the account does not show that i have MHS though. Does that option show anywhere on the account?

Thanks.

Signed up with Verizon an hour ago and got the Nexus. Called and the rep said I had to have the $29 unlimited data plan in order to add the 4G mobile hotspot. I then called back and gave the rep the feature code number and presto. She even told me this is better as I wouldn't have to worry about overages. Checked my account and my data is now unlimited data. Will wait a couple of days before I remove the MHS. Very, very happy right now. :D

So don't give up. Its still allowing new customers to do this.

What is the feature number???

Is there a way to do this without having a phone on Verizon ?

Can I just borrow a friends phone and remove his sim card and do this??
How much would the cheapest version of this cost me???

The feature number is: 76153

I don't know if you can borrow a friend's phone to do this. I already had a 4G plan technically. What do you mean by "cheapest version"? The unlimited plan is $29.

I have sprint..... so I would have to essentially sign up for a cellphone plan along with the MHS..... I am asking what it would cost me to get a SIM card setup like this.....

ALSO.... I have the AT&T ipad (facepalm) was a gift from my parents..... However it has a microSIM card slot..... does that mean I could put the verizon SIM in it?

Honestly, I am no expert on any of this so I don't want to mislead you. I don't think you can sign up with the 4G unlimited mobile hotspot. Sign up with a tiered plan and then once you get home call CS and just give them the feature code. Don't even mention the 4G unlimited mobile hotspot.

I don't know how much Verizon charges for sim cards. But if I were you I'd do this sooner rather than later. They can close it anytime.

Verizon only uses SIM cards for global phones and 4G LTE... other than that the phones are CDMA meaning no SIM card support. If you want to try the global phone I'd suggest looking it up on YouTube or something first to see if it's even possible to take your SIM card and switch it over, which I seriously doubt is possible... With the iPad you're just out of luck...

Everyone's is like that. You have nothing to worry about unless you log in one day and see unlimited gone and a tier. :D

Ok so i shouldnt worry about the data carrying over like that? because i hit 1gb allot faster than i normally do. well im also using the free tethering on a stock bionic. so idk if thts helping my data go up, i just hope verizon never catches on to this and screws me over. haha :)

If you have the $30 Unlimited 4G Mobile Hot Spot tether all you want. If you don't and have the unlimited plan then keep it under 5GB. Assuming you paid for a tethering app in the market or rooted.

Verizon definitely knows about this and a rep who works for them has said they pushed a system update out yesterday or today to stop this. They know adding the unlimited mobile hotspot bumps your current data plan to unlimited. They know for sure it will be closed, but what what they don't know is how it will affect anyone who got it this way. (Myself included)

I personally believe Verizon would p-off many customers if they yanked away the unlimited plan their reps gave them. The customer didn't do anything but ask for a feature. It's not the customer's fault their data plan changed. Anything is possible. It wouldn't surprise me if I log into My Verizon one day to see my 4GB plan. Hopefully not.

ok thanks and no i dont have the tethering plan and my phones not rooted. ive looked it up and it seems the droid bionic can do usb tethering for free. i called verizon and they said i have no hotspot/broadband usage so i think im good. i just found out about this a couple of days ago. and ok il keep it under 5gb. thanks for the tip, and yeah i hope they dont take it away because its not our fault, we were just "adding a feature".

If I start a new family plan on Verizon and do this to every line, would I still be able to get unlimited data?
