I'm getting a new m8 probably with lollipop on, been reading numerous threads about problems and things with the device.

So just wondered is there anything I should do when getting the new device to enable it to function efficiently? I'm guessing it's a good idea to disable bloat ware and wipe the device from sratch?

Personally, I'd unlock boot loader, install custom recovery and CleanRom. That's assuming you use Verizon.

If you have an unlocked version then it shouldn't have to much bloatware. But for apps that you won't use then it's worth disabling them so that it doesn't update and clog up the storage space. Things like fitbit, cloudprint, google drive, hangouts and tv are things I don't use so I disable them. But lollipop seems to have made my phone a lot smoother in performance over 4.4.4 so not much is needed to be done.
