hi G5 owners-

I've been a pretty happy v10 user for almost a year-until the dreaded bootloop hit my device. Previously had a G2 and G3, so I've been with LG for a few years.
T-Mobile is sending me a G5 as replacement for my V10. I'm eligible for a JUMP! upgrade. Upgrade would likely be the S7/S7 Edge (only other decent T-Mobile Android phones)

So the question is: keep the G5, or do the upgrade (or hold on to G5 for month or 2 until V20)?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I really like my G5, had no problems with it. It's very nice to be able to change the battery before I go out if I forget to charge it.

I have a G5 and plan to upgrade but not because anything is wrong with the G5....,I just want some of features and bigger screen of the V10

I love my G5. Great phone, super fast. I would advise purchasing a case. I've got the Spigen slim case. Feels like my old Nexus 5.

The G5 is, in my opinion, better than what they are offering to you as a "jump" upgrade.

Think about it. You can swap out the battery. (but won't need to). It's got an IR Blaster.

Some are saying the camera is better in the S7(E). I, and a lot of other's, don't agree. Plus, you get the second "wide-angle" shooter. It's all subjective anyway.

Also... The Samsung gadgets are really good phones and very nice to look at. But.. That can be bad. Fingerprints. Scratches. Cracks. You'll need a case anyway. The G5 is actually better looking to me. The S7/S7E look like the S6. Which looks like the S5. Which looks like the S4. Etc.

Keep the G5 until you can get the V20 at least.

You forgot that stupid home button.

I didn't forget the home button.
I didn't mention it because there is no better place FOR the home button for me.

I'm not sure why you brought this up. Because it's on the back? I like it there. If it's not in my hand and sitting on the table all I have to do to see the screen is double-tap it, OR do a knock code, OR a pattern, OR a PIN. Or say, "Okay, Google".

If I need to see the time all I gotta do is look at it. It does have the "Always-On" screen. (which could stand to be brighter though)

At home, you can set it up to not lock. Or when it's near you. There's plenty of ways to set this thing up, man.

I've never been a fan of Samsung's physical home button from the beginning. So, for me, if there's going to be a need for a physical "Home" button I prefer it be right where it is on the G5. Sorry!

Therefore, no need to mention it.

Are we good now?

Easy tiger, I don't like it either. I'm talking about the capacitive buttons on Samsung phones as apposed to the software navigation buttons on the G5, which I own. I'm not talking about the screen lock button/finger print scanner.

I'm not following you then, I guess. You said, "You forgot the stupid home button."

So...The "Stupid" home button on the G5 or the physical one on the S7?

I've never liked the physical buttons on the Samsung devices which I already said. And apparently, neither do you.

So, maybe we're on the same page here. I've had access to pretty near every Samsung device in my home. They are great gadgets. I just don't like those capacitive, physical buttons taking up real estate on my gadget. Nor am I a fan of TouchWiz. Don't like it. I really don't like LG's skin much either but that's how the G5 came. I'm a pure android fanboy. Nexus junkie.

I'm getting off-topic. First choice. 6P. Even though I think the G5 is a better phone. Second choice. LG G5.

There we go! Sorry if I seemed to get a bit aggressive. I just see so many unfounded negative comments about this AWESOME phone.

Thanks,
Terie (Greedog)

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm keeping the G5 for now. I like it. Checked out the Samsung in store, and I like the feel and form factor of the G5 better. Plus picked up a case in store for $5.
I'll check out the V20 when it comes out, and decide then on an upgrade.

Ahhhh that is such a difficult choice to make - all of those phones are great! Stick with the G5 if LG is what you know and love! The Edge series is fantastic, though, if you want to give it a shot!
